Stocks options for Rem 600 McMillan, MPI, Boyds?

Awhile back I bought a Rem 600 off Gunbroker. Has a heavy fluted Hart barrel in 308, Timney trigger, and an unknown synthetic stock. Pretty sure it was a silhouette gun. I took the Millett R700 base and Sightron scope off, and put a base from Murphy Precision on, with a SWFA SS 12x scope. I'm...

    Remington Model 600 .308

I recently bought a custom 600 with a Hart barrel, not sure who made the synthetic stock. They are neat guns, but the collectors are driving up prices. Boyds, McMillan and some of the smaller stock guys inlet for the 600 You could always buy a boyds with the LOP and pad of your choice and...

    U.S. Army/Navy/USMC M14-based sniper and DMR/SDM rifles circa late-1960s to late 201Xs

Back in the late 80s/early 90, the 82nd, or at least 1/325AIR scouts had M21s with the Leupold 10x in ARMS mounts, prior to receiving the M24. They wanted to hold on to them as long as they could, to use as spotters rifles when the M24s came in. They used A/C safety wire(like on the M60 gas...

    .22lr pistol recommendations

Another vote for a Buck Mark...you can swap barrels easily, lock the slide back to do a quick clean. Less aftermarket then the Ruger, and disassembly requires removing the sights. Or go old school with a High Standard

Gunsmithing Wanted 1911 Gunsmith within 3 hrs drive from FT Worth TX

IIRC Alex Hamilton with 10x precision was nearby..but that was awhile ago. Ed Vandenberg is outside Houston...did a lot of work for me when I lived near there. Dont think he does revolver work though. He should be able to help with the 1911

IBI barrel for Tikka is here. Maybe first in the US.

KOD, slightly off topic, and I probably should start an new thread, but... How do you think the Tikka, with and without the uograded barrel and stock, compares to say..a Sako P94S or Anschutz 64 Silhouette?

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

You'll have to call or email Near...I haven't heard back from them. I think I saw the Contessa in the Brownells catalog...and ebay. SWFA and I think Euro Optic has the IOR I can't speak to the quality of any of them, as I've not used them. The NEAR as noted above gets excellent reviews and is...

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

After all my research I think your options are 1- Near base that requires drilling and tapping 2- Contessa or EraTac(?) Base that fits the tapered dovetail 3- IOR/Valada 2pc pic rails that fit the tapered dovetail, then use Burris signature rings with inserts to gain 20moa 4- Redfield made...

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

Thanks for the help and offers guys. I bought a pair of Sako Optilock ring mounts, which are one piece, not two. Just got them today, thanks to a free trial of Amazon prime. $110...just mounted them up. Not perfect, but I think they will work. They have the locating pin on the rear ringmount...

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

Are you using the ring mounts, or the two piece base and ring system? After more research, I found that Sako/Beretta does still offer a 1pc ring mount. The 30mm Low looks like it might work...100-150 bucks depending on where you shop. I might give them a try.

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

Thanks for the replies guys. I sent a message to near...if they make one of those 1 piece alphamounts for the dovetail, I may go that route. Otherwise, a full pic rail is not what I think I want for this rifle. It's a Bartlien #3 in a McMillan classic stock. It also kinda bugs me to put a base...

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

I've heard about the Near, but nothing on the web site. I think it might be overkill for this rifle. Talley lightweight mounts would be perfect, so, of course they dont make them for the Sako dovetail. Not sure on the 85..its a machined in dovetail that tapers front to rear.

    Rifle Scopes Sako tapered dovetail

Anyone have any experience with the tapered dovetail on Sako rifles? Just got back a Sako A V, 30/06 that's been rebarreled with a Bartlien #3 contour. Unfortunately, using the medium Leupold ringmounts, the Bushnell LRHS no longer fits. Researching, it looks like I have about 3 options. All...

Rimfire central - Thread Locked - DO NOT Start Another One

I don't know about all the politics, or Sophie, and what not. What I see are a bunch of fudds, that are bemoaning the passing of walnut and gloss scopes, and debating the merits of cheap scope( in current position, that ain't such a bad thing). They think it's a conspiracy of the scope and gun...
