Rifle Scopes Scopes for Air Rifles

not bloody likely at those prices...? As mentioned I've got the dreaded MTC Viper 4-16 on my Air-Rifle and have been using it at 5x and up to see if a 5-25 will work for me, and I've had no probs finding targets at 5x... and a little more magnification can't hurt anyone.. right ? ( just not 27x...

Rifle Scopes Scopes for Air Rifles

I've got a Theoben MFR .20 that I use for regular practice on an 18 acre small holding, and have had the displeasure of using a MTC Optics Viper 4-16 on it. The glass is ok, but it's SFP, Mil Reticle and MOA turrets is a pita, which seems to be the norm for air rifle scopes. The closest 'cheap'...

Rifle Scopes Choice for precision AND 3 gun......on a budget?

Like everyone above is intimating, you're verging on the edge of 2 applications here. Your 300y targets for 3 gun are a 10" plate or similar, so it's just over 3 MOA and not really 'precision' as such. Also think it through; if you're using 4x magnification at that range, it's the same...

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mk6 1-6 question

Can't help you... I've ordered the Mk6 1-6 CMR-W for my LWRC IC A5/SPR... as based on the research, it's the bomb. ...but it will only get it here in 4-5 months (export/import allowing). As BobinNC says... ask Leupold.

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

Great news: Leupold got back to me ! Ok, looks like the data that I pulled from the published data pdf's was pretty spot on (to their complete surprise). They used a few different environmental variables, but the main contributor to Spin Drift difference was a 45 degree latitude Coriolis Effect...

Rifle Scopes mil dot reticle moa turrets

... just get a scope that the unit of measure matches in the reticle and the turrets, and spare yourself a world of pain. The MOA/Mil mismatch was a marketing/fashion love child victim of Frankenstein proportion with scope manufacturers. Everyone wanted a MilDot reticle because they saw them on...

Rifle Scopes Horus Vision, LLC. H-102 reticle

    Looks like a good 7.62 semi-auto reticle.

Rifle Scopes Good "tactical" scopes for an AR-15? (1x mag to 6-8)

??? you've just spent $2500+ on a premium AR... I think your logic might be a bit flawed by not getting a premium scope ??? ...although $2000 is premium at 1-6... ;) I've just bought the Limited Edition LWRC IC A5 Fenrir from Modern Outfitters, and chose a Leupold Mk6 1-6 CMR-W 5.56... which...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

I've picked up the data from the PDF docs (images) that Leupold has published, then open the PDF files in Adobe Illustrator, then lined the reticle up with the left/top edge and scale it so that 20Mil = 200mm. Each vector point can then easily be read. Illustrator gives you 3 decimal place...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

What is your density altitude range ? Although I'm at 45m Elevation, I've got a density altitude range of -480m up to 2900m, so it's really all over the place... with a mean of 130m... so I'll readjust mine to that, and either: 1. ignore the ballistic reticle and work off my own distances...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

I've worked out the CMR-W 7.62 as well... and the Spin Drift is pretty much spot on to the calculated figures... so seems that they got this one right. ;) From the info that I've found online, it 'seems' that a Sierra MatchKing HPBT 175gr was used as the calibration round. I've got it...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

Nope... no further luck. ...and no answers to my emails to Leupold. (I even tried their 'tactical optics' division.). I've tried using data from New York (13ft elevation) in the middle of winter with a density altitude of -3300ft, and Denver (5280ft elevation) in summer with a density altitude...

    Rifle Scopes Luepold scope ???

I take it that you are solely holding over. If you are using the CMR-W 5.56, then the full usable reticle... i.e. if you wanted to use the very bottom row of Wind Dots (900m) in a 20mph wind, then you would only be able to do so at 1.969x magnification... which is a bit useless at that distance...

    Rifle Scopes New Trijicon VCOG

This might actually be one of those scopes to watch... especially if the 'new-tech' daylight illumination is as good as BigJimFish says it is. If it's as bright as a Red-Dot / ACOG at low magnification, and FFP detailed at high magnification... it could well be a winner.

Rifle Scopes 1-6x Optic for 3gun

Kamkaze has a good point about the appearance and disappearance of the 'close' reticle. i.e. in limited Tac Optics, you've got 1 optic on your gun that you can transition between close and far, and scope manufacturers are trying to get the best of both worlds. At low magnification, they're...

Rifle Scopes Mill Dots 2nd Focal Plane Variable Power Scope

If you're lucky, you scope is calibrated at 10x... then it's 'easier'. Generally, you're looking at: 1 SFPMil = 1 Mil x ( Calibrated Magnification / Current Magnification ). Where Calibrated Magnification is the magnification at which 1 Reticle Mil is actually 1 Mil. So if you have a SFP scope...

Rifle Scopes Calculating Correct Mil Value In a Second Focal Plane Scope

Glad you've switched to FFP... you were heading into a world of pain.... ;) I've got a MTC/Optisan Viper 4-16 that has the worst of all worlds... nice Mil reticle, MOA turrets and SFP. ...I bought it before I knew anything, and have hated it ever since because of the amount of crap I have to...

Rifle Scopes School Me On The Reticle/Turret

Head on over to: JBM Ballistics and either choose a 'Trajectory Calculator' or 'Range Card Calculator' and then enter all your data therein... and it should give you a very good approximation of your bullet ballistics at your altitude/pressure/temperature/humidity (Density Altitude) location.

Rifle Scopes Try to educate this dumbass on FFP

Lowlight has a good point regarding the ranging... and with modern range finders, it's just easier to use one of them. ...besides, how many shooters honestly understand how to work backwards from target size -> range distance -> elevation... and then actually do so. You can chose either FFP or...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

Sorry, what I meant was that I did change it to 7.8cm, and it made no difference to the figures... I do appreciate the suggestions. I guess it is a 'bit of a mission', and again apologies for the OCD... but if I can't get to the original 'baseline' that Leupold has set in creating this scope...
