    Large deviation when loading .223

Agreed. Even after shooting groups I leave the garmin on while I'm shooting steel. More data never hurts. What's considered a good SD and ES for 223? I'm newer to this aspect of it. My last string of 30 shots was an SD of 11 and ES of 58. Pretty much all my SD's have been under 20 and the ES has...

    223 80g ELDM 28"

Bet it's going to shoot awesome. I was just shooting mine last weekend with the 80 eld. Its looking like varget is going to be more accurate for me than the 8208 xbr. 8208 with the 77s is awesome though.

    seating depth test 8208xbr/77gr smk

Don't bother, especially when you're limited to AR mag length. I'm shooting the 77 smk with 23.2 grains of 8208 in a wylde chambered bolt gun and its money. 2.260" oal. They're jumping over .100" if I remember correctly.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

Hard to say. It might shoot better farther off the lands.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

Keep us posted on what loads work for you. Should shoot great. In my wylde chamber I'm right about 2.530" to the lands with the 80 eld. I'd like to try a hornady oal gauge to compare that. I've been mainly using the wheeler method.

    Redding competition seater scratching bullets

I measured some hornadys and sierras I have. They were both .2243. The bullet does slip the the stem guide freely. I couldn't see or feel a burr. Just by letting it fall through by hand a few times some light marks were formed on the bullet. I think I need to just try to polish that area to a...

Where are all the rifle barrel blanks?

My bartlein 223 barrel came directly from him. That was a few years ago though. I believe he stocks some krieger as well.

    Redding competition seater scratching bullets

Redding said they recommend the vld stem. Honestly I don't think the regular stem is too bad but I'll mess with it. They also said to try pushing the bullet through the seating stem hole to check for clearance. I didn't think about the stem being pushed up that far. Might just need to polish...

    Redding competition seater scratching bullets

I will definitely give the other stems a look. I loaded some 77 smk today and the stem ring is less noticeable for sure due to the tangent ogive. I'll have to take another look at both rounds side by side.

    Redding competition seater scratching bullets

When I first got the dies I took them apart to check the stem with the eld bullets. It seems to fit fine and the bullet tip doesn't contact the end of the stem. Vld still might be more optimal but not sure.

    Redding competition seater scratching bullets

Anyone have problems with this? Brand new dies. 223 caliber, when I seat a bullet the die scratches it right above the case neck. Attached is a picture of the first round. After about 10 rounds it is not nearly as bad. Now it is mostly just on one side of the bullet and not as noticeable. I...

    223 80g ELDM 28"

I'd probably go with a standard wylde reamer and call it a day.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

How much tac are you using? I have a few pounds to try with 77s.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

I've heard great things about h4895 in 223, just haven't seen it the last couple years.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

I'm using 23.5g of 8208 with the 80 eld and getting 2800 out of a 24" barrel. Could probably push it a bit faster if I wanted to. I'm going to try varget as well. I haven't seen 8208 or h4895 in stock in awhile.

Kelblys atlas tactical ... looking for some advice on a build

I've been looking at the atlas tactical as well. Does the bolt have a lot of play when it's fully open to the rear? That's the only thing that kind of bugs me know my origin. Really isn't a problem running it and I'd buy another but I'm curious about other options for the next build.

    Sig Kilo 3k Or?

I've used it a bit. I ranged everything at my shooting range and all the targets were spot on to what they're marked at so it definitely seems accurate. The app is nice to change the settings on the rangefinder. It's kind of confusing trying to change the settings with just the prompts on the...

    Question on choosing dies

I figured so. Honestly, I'm shooting pretty good with ammo from Lee dies. I need to do some measuring but the neck tension fees pretty tight. I think just controlling that better would get me some better consistency.

    Question on choosing dies

I'm looking into getting a quality set of 223 dies and have some questions on the best way to go. I know for sure I want to get a mandrel die to control neck tension. My main question is what die do you guys recommend to do the shoulder bump portion? It seems my options are a standard full...
