I also have a 1:7 223. I have some 53gr vmax I'm going to try soon. The 53 is longer so I think it will be better suited for this barrel. I also have some 55s I might try as well.

What's a good load range for 8208 with the 80 eldm? I'm thinking about 23.8-24.5. Going to seat to about 2.500 in a wylde chamber.

What are some good powders for lighter bullets? I'm going to load up some 53 vmax for varmints. I'd like to save my 8208 for the heavier rounds, and ideally I'd like to choose a ball powder for the lighter bullets. Something I don't have to bother with trickle charging when loading larger...

PRS Talk What bag to use??

What's a good rear bag for just shooting off the bench? I don't shoot prs but need a rear bag for shooting groups off the bench. I'll be using a Harris bipod on the front. Is something like a TAB bag too small?

Are all prefit barrels created equal?

I have a bartlein from keystone, so far so good. I'd like to try one of his green mountain barrels at some point as well.

Not that I can see but I'll have to mess with it more. I think most of the feeling I'm getting is just cock on close.

This is 2.530. Maybe I'll go 2.500 and see how it shoots.

Anyone have an opinion on my coal for the 80 eld?

Hey Rob what do those 75 eld measure at length wise? Just the bullet itself. I'm curious how much longer the 80gr is.

    .223 - 5.56

If I seat a bullet long and use the rifling to jam it in the rest of the way I'm coming up with 2.550. If I seat to 2.530 it still feels slightly tight to close the bolt. What do the experts say? I would think I'm safely far away enough at 2.530 but I'm not used to the bolt feel. This is with...

Hornady manual is 2.390. I'll see what my rifle is at. Are you running a wylde chamber?

    .223 - 5.56

I've heard people say the 75s are easier to tune than the 80s. No idea how true this is. I have the 80s so I'll probably run them. I'll try to get a measurement later and see what they jam at. That hodgon data sounds conservative. Hornady manual is 20.9gr-22.8gr of 8208 with a 75gr bullet.

    .223 - 5.56

Anyone have opinions on 75 vs 80 eldm? I have a box of the 80s but am wondering if I'm better off with 75s. Rifle is a 24" bartlein barrel 1-7" twist wylde chamber. I want to use 8208. Of course the hornady manual has data for the 75 with 8208, but not the 80. What's a good powder range to work...

    Origin build first shots

Thanks that's a cool program! I picked up 1k of the sierra 77 smk about a year ago from powder valley on a good deal. Figured those always shoot well in everything. I just figured with a bolt gun like this I might as well take advantage of some bullets with a better bc like the hornady eldm series.

    Origin build first shots

It was a real joy to shoot. I need to go out to the range and get more serious with it. What's everyone's opinion on running a 75 eldm vs 80 eldm?

    Origin build first shots

Finally got out to the range with my origin build. Completed it about a year ago but just got out to put s few rounds through it. It is a 223 wylde chamber, bighorn origin action, bartlein 1-7 twist m24 barrel by keystone accuracy, McMillan A3-5 stock, triggertech primary trigger, and bushnell...

    223 77smk and 8208xbr

My rifle will chamber a round with the 77smk at 2.360! It's a wylde chamber, not sure what results others have had. The ogive measuring tool would be nice for the hollow points, I should pick one up.

    223 77smk and 8208xbr

I would really like to shoot the 80eld but I only have 100 of them and I cant find any in stock. It would be nice to take full advantage of 223 in a bolt gun. 77 smk was in stock and I know they're a proven performer so here I am with 1k of them.
