Re: Maybe a dumb question: Shimming a stock? How about shimming both action screws the same amount? Then the bearing surfaces would still be even.

Gunsmithing Shortening a stock barrel M70 stainless

Re: Shortening a stock barrel M70 stainless I have a Rem. VS in .308 and a VLS in .204. Both had 26" barrels. I had them both shortened to 23" and recrowned with a target crown. The accuracy is still as good or better than before and they are a lot easier to handle and carry.
