    Knights Armament parts availability

I think Sons are $3ish but I don't know anything about the Gen 2 upgrayydds or pricing, and I don't have a dog in that hunt. Did take their armorers class and several guys in LE had their Mk10's and they seem to be working, but I've never dropped a hammer on one.

Hunting & Fishing Experimenting w/ different calibers on deer (Graphic)

Our place is in south Texas and we have a whole lot of small deer. I've seen 556 work fine on deer bigger than that. I've come to prefer the Grendel as a go to because I don't really care about deer hunting - I'm more hoping to kill a 300+ lb hog. The Grendel has a little more ass and...

Sons of Liberty Armorers Class - AAR

I don't know if that is good or bad

    Knights Armament parts availability

Noveske is about to drop new N6's with a switchblock and SOLGW has a second gen Mk10 coming out very soon. You'll be out the door for $5000 or less in both cases. I'm agnostic as to KAC versus XXX due to cost and availability in general - my experience with Noveske and SOLGW leads me to believe...

Sons of Liberty Armorers Class - AAR

I had a good understanding of tolerance stacking and what I think of as margin to failure - i.e. maybe it works, but how far away is it from failing - but this class really hammered home that even buying 100% of the parts from a given manufacturer isn't going to necessarily give you the results...

Sons of Liberty Armorers Class - AAR

He didn't recommend JP per se. His point was that they build a purpose built competition gun, and if the worst thing that happens if it chokes is you don't win a competition - get the gun built specifically for competition. I'm sure people compete with SOLGW rifles, but when you walk out of the...

Sons of Liberty Armorers Class - AAR

I took the Sons of Liberty Gun Works (SOLGW) Armorer’s Class in Zachary, LA July 30-31. The class was taught by the owner, Mike, and one of his top armorers, Jesse. The class is billed as a top to bottom examination of the AR-15 platform, and it lives up to this. Mike was front and center the...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

So far so good on the gen 2. High hopes for the fall and winter. I would call the 2 useful at higher magnification than 8x, but it isn't crystal clear - but I've shot and watched yotes at 18X through a 3-18x50 Leupold VX-6HD.

Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

The question remains - should I totally divest of the 300 BO?

I believe Rock Creek for the blanks Edited - I'd said Mike Rock. Incorrect way of naming the company.

6.5 Grendel Barrels selection (late) 2023?

I get that. I'm not thrilled about that myself and I'm debating what to p/w vs run on SBR lowers. Regardless, it does allow for the use of a 5" can that then is relatively compact for the end result regarding weight and capability. Law aside, a good 14" barrel is a sweet spot for the caliber.

Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

I believe they are using Rock Creek blanks. The Grendel, at 25, is still evolving - there are more and more ammo options, with some lighter than current offerings cracking through 3000 fps. I'm a Grendel enthusiast so call me biased but for deer its perfect and for pigs it gets the job done if...

Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

https://craddockprecision.com/rtr-6-5-grendel-13-9-the-pangris/ They're here... apparently I've made an impression with Craddock, but to be clear I have no financial interest in these. I have to say the .625" ultralight option is intriguing, can't wait to get mine in hand. Per LRRPF52, there...
