    Nope, I'm assuming they're not elite at other disciplines until seeing otherwise. Don't give people credit until they earn it. I'm standing here right holding a $100 Harris that cants just fine. Funny enough, it sits next to Ckyepod that rarely gets touched.

    Thats exactly my point - many of the people in this discipline think $200 is significant, not "budget". Nor are they shooting competitions, therefor using "top end competitors dont use pan features, so you shouldnt either" is poor justification for not having it.

    Dont be so quick to make all of those assumptions. And "top end competitors" make up only a fraction of the competition shooters and all competition shooters only make up a fraction of long range shooters who themselves only make up a small portion of all shooters. So if you want to a play game...

    Speak to some of these mfgs. behind closed doors, they tell you they make what sells. If reducing the amount of resources needed to make an item nets them the same (or more) amount of cash because we're in a hobby of parrots and that's what their customer says, of course they'll do it regardless...

    "Dont really need pan"? Speak for yourself, but thats a nonstarter for me. Also playing it fast and loose w/ "budget". "Not a top tier price" would be more apt. $200 is still 2 full days of work for many.

    Maybe wide open spaces, but thick timber/Midwest hunting you run into anything from prone to kneeling off sticks, sitting shooting off your knee, on tree branches sitting, standing, off fence posts/gates, tree stands, box blinds, etc.

    Most hunters have very ill fitting stocks that are not conducive to positional shooting.
