    Completely agree with everything . . . except 3-phase. A Variable Frequency Drive will convert single phase to 3 phase. Inexpensive, easy to set up and most will allow programming such as spin up/down time.

    I'll leave the semantics to professional machinists, but I'd say the tool is a surface grinder, the process in this instance is cylindrical grinding. So if it helps, you can say it's cylindrical grinding using a surface grinder. Surface isn't limited to flat.

    That's an odd "step" between the OD of the muzzle and the OD of the barrel. It does appear to match the OD of the brake. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it. That radius doesn't look sharp and it serves no shouldering purpose so in the even you did ding it, it would only be cosmetic.

    Looks like a nice first barrel. Don't obsess over mirror smooth thread surface finish. Most use a file to knock off or flatten the thread crest - makes it less vulnerable to damage and the flank does all the work.
