    New F-Class Rifle

While I recognize this is a site primarily concerned with tactical shooting, I'm hoping you guys will share my joy over my new F-Class rifle. This is a 6.5x47 built on a Barnard LB/RP/LE receiver, 28.5" Bartlein barrel, and a Master Class stock. Mark Pharr built the rifle. Many...

Rifle Scopes Alaskan Cruise- Spotter or Binoculars

Getting ready to head north for an Alaska cruise. I'm thinking of quickly ordering something like a Kowa spotting scope to take along to help see stuff from our balcony. The spotting scope is something I could really use for my target shooting. Alternatively, I could order a set of binos. Less...

Range Report Velocity Drop With Muzzle Brake

Re: Velocity Drop With Muzzle Brake Back at the range today. Was not able to clock any rounds 'cause a herd of grazing cattle invaded the target area and shut me down. Prior to that, however, I was able to verify DOPE at 300Y and 600Y. My come ups are dead on (within 0.1 mil) of JBM assuming...

Range Report Velocity Drop With Muzzle Brake

I just had a Badger FTE brake installed on my 24" .308. I really like the feel of the gun now. The brake has really tamed the "rifle hop" I was fighting previously. I was curious as to the velocity effect on my rounds. I'm running 155 Scenars and Lapua brass, 47.1 gr Varget, BR2 primers. Rounds...

Rifle Scopes Why does 20 MOA base not give 20 MOA Elevation?

Re: Why does 20 MOA base not give 20 MOA deflectio Thanks for the comments. The 6.5x47 is being built on a Barnard action. I bought the 20 MOA base from Mac Tilton specific for the Barnard. So I don't believe a Badger or Nightforce will work but I need to check with Mac. Seems like shimming...

Rifle Scopes Why does 20 MOA base not give 20 MOA Elevation?

I've bought a Nightforce 12-42X56 Benchrest scope for my new 6.5x47 Lapua F-Class gun. Scope spec'd for 40 MOA elevation range. I'll need about 29 MOA to get to to 1K with a Berger 130 from a 100Y zero. Gun still being built and will have 20 MOA tapered base installed. Just for grins , I...

    Rifle Scopes Mils or MOA?

Re: Mils or MOA? If you ever plan to shoot any NRA matches like F-Class, you'll want MOA knobs. The target rings are laid out in increments of MOA. Whatever you decide, the reticle needs to match the knobs.

    Economics of Annealing

I have 800+/- pieces of Lapua .308 brass that have just completd their 2nd firing. I'm running very warm loads so AT BEST I figure I only have 2 more firings before the necks will need to be annealed. Ken Light machine runs about $400. Add in shipping, torches, heat sensitive paint, all of the...

    6.5x47 Load Lengths

Most if the 6.5x47 handload threads concentrate on grains of powder and velocity. I'm still working with my gunsmith to come up with the optimum throat length for the Lapua 123/139 and Berger 130 bullets. Many of you have suggested 0.109 freebore but I don't know what COAL and, more importantly...
