    Once you file a 13D you have to file every time your ownership changes more than 1%. There are ways to skirt that, but Musk doesn't really benefit by doing so.

    Not to mention hypothermia, which, in most grizzly bear areas, is possible well into summer if you get unlucky. Hell, around here if you sprain your ankle you could find yourself in a world of trouble. None of it so glamorous as hand to hand combat with a Griz, though.

    It would be hard to find a place in the US outside of Alaska with more grizzlies/mile than my place, and there is no fucking way I am carrying a shotgun around every time I go outside. Sometimes I wonder how people make it through life with as many fears as they seem to have.

    A 9mm seems imprudent if you are in grizzly country. I'm sure it can work, but it isn't a great idea. 45 is no better, probably worse.

    I haven't missed the point. Gold isn't a very good hedge against inflation, and the only reason it sometimes does well in inflationary environments is that people think it should be. It was historically a good hedge against inflation when people still pretended that money was backed by assets...

    Diversification is good, and gold can be a good contrarian asset, but people shouldn't take 1980s bromides as investment advice.

    And let's not forget that the price of gold was about $600 in 1980, while the S&P was at about $100. But if you want to compare gold to putting money under your mattress, yes, it has been excellent.
