Help with hunting rifle bottom metal

I bought a "KwikKlip" https://www.trexlerindustries.com/kwik-klip/ bottom metal and a couple of mags for my SA R700 when it was a 260, and when I opened the bolt face up for a SAUM it just took a little opening the feed lips to get the fatter case sitting in a place where it would feed. The...

    2024 grip and grin

We don't have a hunting season as such in NZ - its on 365 days a year, so I'll start a 2024 thread with some of this year's deer. Not much grin in the photos, I'm usually hunting alone

Hunting & Fishing Your go to 6.5cm elk bullet

+1 for the 156 Oryx, and for further out I'm having a great run with the Bondstrike out of my SAUM. Fortunately the Oryx shoots close enough to the Bondstrike zero I just have the first two rounds up Oryx, and change mags if it's a long shot for the Bondstrike.

Has anyone thought of leaving the US for greener pastures?

And now, completely unwanted in NZ, our ex Prime Minister lives in the US, and works at Harvard. You're welcome.

Has anyone thought of leaving the US for greener pastures?

Not really, I think our issues are more due to low quality politicians than a nefarious plot to run the place via NWO puppets. I also don't think our 7000 police could make much of a state. It seems there is quite a gap between reality and the news - you might even have seen some of that...

To those who say lower cost guns aren't "accurate"..

Somebody asked McClownrider55 how stupid he was and the duck guy decided to make a competition out of it.

Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

Try making a press out of a 3' length of heavy I beam, a bottle jack and a couple of strongbacks. Shouldn't cost much, and cheaper than cutting from plate, that's for sure.

The M1907 sling, am I the only one still using it?

I use one on my hunting rifle. Can't beat slinging up seated for shooting over scrub and tussock. Turner biothane for the win.

Go To No Frills Scope Rings?

I'm a big fan of Sportsmatch - they made the AI rings, and are very fairly priced. The Burris rings with inserts are very good value too, and being able to fit offset inserts can be a gamesaver on occasion.

    Land Surveying Question

The neighbor probably got up the surveyor when they were on the job, and to calm him down the surveyor possibly offered a copy- if they are as threatening as you suggest. Have you asked your surveyor what the fuck he was doing giving a copy of a survey you paid for to anyone other than you...

Mate. I'm on the other side of the planet, and even I can see that you are full of shit. Take a deep breath, and disconnect from the TV. It's not doing you any favours.

    The Cone of Shame

Got to agree. Suppressors were a rare thing here (NZ, other than .22rf, and everybody used them) until maybe 25 years ago. Now, it's a rare rifle that doesn't have one. Less noise, less upsetting the neighbours, better for the dog, less felt recoil.... why wouldn't you?

Maven rs 1.2 2.5-15 vs Tract Toric 2.5-15

The Athlon reticle at low power and low illumination looks like a somewhat pointed red blob - and works superbly on close deer. I'd agree that a fine mildot reticle or similar wouldn't be great, but this particular reticle works just spot on for the way and places I hunt - and I've used a bundle...
