    I was running a straight no tapper 30” on my vanguard action. Was a true 1/4” gun for most of that barrels life. 1.035”x30” As for blowing up jacketed bullets. My new barrel is a 28” 1:8 300wm. Did break in with 185gr Berger’s. No blow ups

    Shorter range data not lining up with mile data

    One thing about the Caldwell chrono. It’s accuracy it +/- 2%. And that’s if it’s lined up square with bullet path. Few degrees out of square that can be +/-3-5%. That adds up. Also wind from right to left will push bullet left and up

    Like everyone else says shooting it and finding out how your rifle affects the bc is the correct way. I’ve had good results with custom drag curves but they are not perfect and I have had to true it up. Like mark said shoot at a super sonic range, then subsonic and true from there

    My 37XC definitely had a tight bore. Shot cup and core with zero issues. Every single mono I tried was a no go!

    AB says I’ll be at 1.6 sg at 2900. I like closer to 2 for most my shooting. This 300wm will mostly be a hunting rifle so transitioning isn’t a main goal. But it will definitely be tested at those distances for fun. with my 338 lapua I’m shooting 300gr EH with sg 2.25 and those transition...

    That’s creeping on 338 lapua loads. In 30cal and 198 I’m thinking 3150ish. Sounds like a blast with my 300wm I’ll be starting load work after a box of juggernaut break in the barrel with 205gr super bulldozer 2’s from bad lands.

    Just shim and bed your current base. Done it tons of times. Never any troubles. Shim till your zeroed near bottom at zero. Then bed rail with those shims. Custom base. 60 moa is 1 degree of angle. So your not really changing much at all. I use aluminum flashing for shims
