    Scope height over bore

Those are expected values for a traditionally stocked rifle, not a chassis rifle with a railed forearm. 1.8" sight height as a max is to keep the scope low enough to not use a cheek riser.

    Spotters New Nightforce spotter.

You're correct, I thought the NF scope was at 1000. So it's narrow for a spotter, just not hilariously narrow.

    Spotters New Nightforce spotter.

field of view on this would be large for a riflescope, but it's tiny for a spotting scope. Most wide-angle spotters will have a FOV of around 120+ ft @ ~25 x, or 100 ft at 30 x. Not 7.

    Spotters New Nightforce spotter.

It's only "many mils high" inside of 50 yards, because it's a consistent linear rate of increase from 0" at 1000 yds to whatever the offset height is at 0 yds. If the offset height is 4", the laser impact offset will be: 1000: 0", 0 mils 900: 0.4", .012 mils 800: 0.8", .028 mils 700: 1.2"...

    Spotters New Nightforce spotter.

What you're describing is the reverse of what would happen if you zeroed the laser on the center of the image and then used the reticle to aim it. If you zero on the reticle at 1000 yds, at 100 yds your laser will be 90% of your coaxial offset high if laser mounted above scope.

Rifle Scopes LPVO 1-6 vs. 1-8 - What´s the difference?

So, the Swaro and Kahles lines are basically the same except for the physical reticles in the scopes: Z6i 1-6x24 = K16i Z8i 1-8x24 = K18i Z8i+ 1-8x24 = K18i-2 The Z6i was formerly available with a tree reticle with center dot; BRT-I. If you see a review of this scope singing its praises, it...

Rifle Scopes LPVO 1-6 vs. 1-8 - What´s the difference?

So, I started with a Trijicon TR24 1-4x24, moved on to a K16i with the SI1 reticle, then onto a K16i with the SM1 reticle (I now have 2 of these), added a K18i and recently got a K18i-2. On the reticles, the K16i SM1 and SI1 are brighter than the K16i 3GR. I've looked through a K16i with the...

Rifle Scopes LPVO 1-6 vs. 1-8 - What´s the difference?

If you have a budget, get a 1-6. The quality trade off when you jump up to 8x or 10x happens very quickly. I agree with the first statement, second statement is usually true but I'd say the K18i-2 is an exception.

moa vs mils, the forbidden thread

Linear measurements are of course possible, they're just pointless. (and as you noticed, poor approximations) Using the ruler in your scope to call out an adjustment that can be dialed or held is infinitely superior to calling out a correction in inches/centimeters/etc. There's just no reason to...

moa vs mils, the forbidden thread

It will not. It will move left 8 x Pi / 3 inches, which is 8.377 inches.

    Vortex Razor 1-6 vs 1-10

The 1-10 is more of a 1 and 4-8. The 24mm objective is a little small for a 10x scope, and the reticle constraints of wanting a bright, easy to see FFP 1x with a functional 5-10x reticle means that the scope works best in those ranges. The 1-6 is basically a 1-5x red dot and a 6x drop...

Rifle Scopes Best High-Magnification LPVO for my use case?

That doesn't really make much sense. The reason to want a FFP scope on powers over 6x is typically that you have too much mag to use the reticle for holds. If you have enough FOV, you don't need to back down the power to do fast target transitions. Reading his use case, he wants to shoot fast...

Rifle Scopes Best High-Magnification LPVO for my use case?

K18i is not even in the same discussion as the K18i-2. The K18i shoots like a 1-6 on 1 and an sfp 8 on 8. The K18i-2 shoots better at 1x than a 1-6 and like a 6x on 8. I haven't had that experience with the turret at all

Rifle Scopes Best High-Magnification LPVO for my use case?

Why? Orient the throw lever so it's vertical at 4x. Hold values are 2 mils instead of 1 at 4. Field at 8x is so wide it's like shooting a 6 so you don't need to come off 8x much. Can always just dial your correction with the exposed turret.

    New Kahles K328i

Sounds like Euro threw one in for you unless you bought it for a previous scope. Either that or you've got the only K525i DLR that had someone at Kahles throw a free sunshade in the box.

    New Kahles K328i

All of my scopes came with the neoprene sleeve. The DLR came with the throw lever and spinner, it doesn't come with a sunshade standard, so either you don't remember buying it or your dealer threw it in there for you. There is no such thing as a free accessory, just an accessory that's been...

    New Kahles K328i

Kahles didn't provide a sunshade or flip caps on my: K318i K624i K525i K525i DLR I'm not surprised when they don't provide them on the K328i. Some people like the neoprene sleeve, some don't. Some like the throw levers, some don't. Some want a sunshade or a bikini cover, or whatever. If I...
