Rifle Scopes Thoughts on the Vortex Razor 1-6x HD?

I looked at the vortex quite a bit when looking for a scope for my16" precision ar. I ended up with the Leupold mk6 just because it had a few tactical features I wanted. The scope is awesome and would be right at home on the rifle. This scope with the extra 2x over the 1-4 actually gives you...

    Front Support: Accuracy vs Portability?

This is going to be the hands down most common situation. Without having a bench rest accuracy capable rifle I see no reason to brace the rifle in such a manner. I could see some preferring the bench rest method during load development or sight in procedures. At the range I use the bipod and...

Rifle Scopes Best choices for 9" AR platform 300BO

For the 2.5-10x32 I have the vortex PST. I think it is better than the ior. I had both and i think it really comes sown to bang for the buck. It would be a good precision choice. I would also look at the leupold or vortex 1-6 options. Both great scopes. You have lits of good choices but it...

Need some advise on what gear I'm missing

Just a follow up on my experience getting into long range shooting. I had a buddy who was a police sniper and made a bunch of gear recommendations that I eventually researched on the net and bought most of what he suggested. I spent several grand for everything. Turns out the recommendations...

    Rifle Scopes Accuracy 1st Level

Thanks I am familiar with the issue but had never seen that thread. Interesting example. I am curious at what distance you can self identify that you are missing your mark, or getting a poi shift, based on what you are seeing down range as a result of a canted reticle. I would have to...

Need some advise on what gear I'm missing

Central Virginia Tactical is in Louisa, Virginia. It is a couple hour drive for you. It used to be run by Vern Harrison but has since been handed off to Ed Shell. It is a great place to shoot. I don't know if they shoot at the farm or the mountain now but the facilities are great for...

Rifle Scopes Levels: Picatinny rail mounted vs. scope tube mounted?

The USO level is great and works just fine under a 34 or 35 mm tube. They used to have two different tightening knobs to choose from. If they still do get the shorter knob for the bigger tubes. I also have a flatline mounted on another scope. The only real functional difference after the...

    Spotting scope vs binos

If you're looking for more magnification to fill the gap between binos and spotting scopes Steiner makes some higher power 15-20x binos. They are really great on a tripod for long hours of observation. I am sure there are other manufactures out there that have a similar product as well.

Rifle Scopes Anyone else anxiously awaiting a new Vortex?

I have been using the 2.5-12x32 for a couple of months and really love this scope. It is really bright and clear for the price point. The weight makes the scope very attractive and keeps me coming back. The wait was well worth it.

What Thickness of AR500 for My Range

I used a company called Las Vegas steel when I helped a buddy set up a range and would suggest calling a mfg. LV Steel was able to answer your question, which was our question at the time, with a lot of detail. We came up with the most affordable combo and it worked out well. We used thinner...

    Remington 5R 20" vs 24" advice coveted

I have an 18" 308 and a 24". I think the decision between the two is going to be primary use. I shoot the 18" at shorter ranges and will use it this year when hunting. I still break out the 24" if I am going to be spending a majority of my range day over 600 yards. Both wear a sas arbiter...

Rifle Scopes Am I going to be dissapointed with a bushnell HDMR?

I actually picked the Bushnell over a Nightforce. I was really impressed with it and the price was great. With the sell off of the older 5 mil turret version after the new one was released I will be very happy to pick up another one soon. I was really impressed when they were 1200 I have not...

Rifle Scopes New to mil to mil scope

I think this is a strange question. I have never heard of anyone converting inches to mils before. 1 mil=3.6 inches at 100 yards. So I would think you would take (3.6x#yards)/100. Then take the number of inches you want to move and devide it by your result of the first formula. That should...

Rifle Scopes Tactical Scope With Best Glass For $2000?

I have one of the leupold mk6 scopes and they are really a big step up from the mk4 line. I have been really impressed. I also have a Razor HD and it is a really good scope. The bushnell is going to be competitive in the low light performance dept but does not have an illuminated reticle.

    Lumimox "Navy Seal" watch questions

He is making a joke. It is a reference to a tv show, Get Smart, in the 60s and 70s where the main character had a bond gadget style watch that he put to good use as a super spy. It was a satire style comedy and pretty popular at the time. The main character, Maxwell Smart, had a catch line...
