    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Back on the ARC topic, if I'm going to backorder the best bullet for the chambering to maximize accuracy, consistency, ease of jump/loading to magazine length and velocity, which bullet would you choose? I have about 500 ELDM 108s I can shoot for now (and 267 Hornady 105 BTHP that I'm selling)...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I am by no means an expert - much of what I learned was from gents like padom, rob01, yondering, LRRFP(or whatever Mr grendel goes by) on here. I typically bracket a velocity I'm trying to hit based on Hornady data as it's generally conservative. I also look for data from others with similar...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Completely agree on the shooting steel part. To that end, I used to obsess over every last spec of accuracy/precision when developing loads, but now look for low SD, sub MOA for 3 shots at a relative flat velocity load range in the ladder - pick a load in the middle, confirm with a 10-shot...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Thanks again - have you tried Varget or xbr8208 by chance? I've found decent velocity and accuracy out of both running an 18" Proof CF barrel with both 105 bthp, but especially with the 108 ELDm. May try the 109s next...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Awesome input! Which shot best? Mind sharing your load data via PM? Thanks so much! Out of curiosity - do you also shoot 6.5 Grendel? I have two rifles in Grendel and am considering selling them since so far my 6mm ARC rifles are more impressive and the two cartridges may be too similar for...

Thanks! Those will fit loaded to mag length?

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Which of these long bullets can be loaded to magazine length for an AR? Thinking of seeing what the max BC bullets will do in the ARC: Nosler 105 or 115 RDF (.571/.634) Hornady ATip 110 (.604) Berger 109 Hybrid (.568) Sierra 110 TMK (.617) Barnes 112 MB (.624) Any others?

Odin Works vs Proof Stainless 6mm Arc AR build?

Honestly - I'd get the Proof barrel (either steel or Carbon). Price difference for steel isn't significant, and Proof was involved in the original recipe for the DOD. Odin makes great stuff (I have bolts, barrels and handguards from them) but in this case I would but Proof again every time.

Odin Works vs Proof Stainless 6mm Arc AR build?

Comfortably sub MOA with both 108 ELDs and 105 BTHPs. Seems to prefer the 108s. 10-shot groups at .75-.87" - many 3-shots under .5". Crazy as it sounds, I really think the amount of pressure on my bipod had as much or more variance as the setup. Out of the country now, but will be...

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Alright - here's the update. Returned the Bullets, Dies, and Barrel. I'm down to the following: 20" 20 Practical OR 20" 223 Which would you steer me to and, if a 20 Practical, which barrel maker? Which twist and gas system if I plan to shoot 32-35 in the Practical or 35-40 in the 223...

    Which company spun your barrel?

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

20 (not 40 - Im guessing talk to text) Practical. From a quick Google search, looks like barrel makers are: Compass Lake X-Caliber White Oak Black Hole Weaponry McGowan

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Just spent some good time researching - it's either a 20 Practical or a long barrel 223. Sounds like I have all components for the 20 Practical - so long as xbr8208 works. Ultimately, the fact that 204 doesn't feed from pmags and the availability of brass killed it.

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Where do you find reasonable brass for the 204s?

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

I think I'm with you - I'm pretty sure Wilson will let me trade the 18" 204 for a 20" 223 barrel. Just too much minutia for not much gain, it seems. Now the question is fluted or straight for longer strings of fire?

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Alright - how about shooting a 35 grain Hornady or berger .223 out of a 20" barrel? I'd never really considered pushing something like that. Should get close to 3900 fps I would imagine which is faster than an 18" 204 variant. Thoughts? Maybe I'm overthinking this but keeping with a 223...

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

This 20 Practical really has me thinking... So far I've purchased: Wilson Combat Barrel, 32 Grain Vmax bullets, and an RCBS 204 Ruger Die Set. Can I work the 204 RCBS into the equation with some modification to use for a practical? I already have an RCBS .223 die set as well... If so, I...

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Totally - I reload, but even finding brass is apparently very difficult. I like the idea of the 20 Practical, but have a 204 ruger barrel in the mail that I'm deciding whether or not to send back (18" Wilson Combat). I have a ton of 5.56 brass that I could make into the 20 practical, but not...

204 Ruger - yay or nay?

Been thinking of doing a 204 Ruger since my buddies started smacking prairie dogs a year or two ago. Thought it to complete an upper and use it for chucks, p dogs, even rabbits with a thermal. What do you think - worth it or not? I have a bunch of 5.56 rifles, Grendels, ARCs, and Creedmoors.

Odin Works vs Proof Stainless 6mm Arc AR build?

Quick update - as the barrel has sped up, this load now shoots 2513 fps at 29 degrees Fahrenheit with an SD of 10.8. if that means 2530 or so in summer months I'm stoked.
