    Long Range for beginners

Tikka CTR and an XTR of some variety is a good starting point without going crazy financially. Accurate and reliable. The upgrades from there yield little return in the ability to shoot long range. As stated, trying to use a hunting rifle is a fools errand, they’re not designed for sustained...

    What’s the deal tangent theta

Bring on the tariffs. If you can afford a tangent at all, you can pay it, or you shouldn’t buy it to start with.

    SAC And 419 Dies

Down range? I now use a 419 Zero and SAC dies. I made as good of ammo on my old Lee breechlock challenger with Lee dies. Most of the performance in reloading is in the method. Better equipment yields more efficiency and smiles.

    Pots and fucking pans

Important note about cast iron and all-clad. If you, or someone in your house (my wife), is not willing to treat them right, then they’re not worth the money. I bought a full set of all-clad D5 when I went with an induction stove top to replace some of the other stuff we had. She promptly...

    Chainsaw: gas vs battery

I bought a dewalt chainsaw to cut trees from a man lift. I was incredibly impressed. They’re slow compared to a gas saw but it’s a work horse on one battery. Worked all day and only uses the one battery. That includes trimming many trees outside of my scope. Don’t hesitate to buy.

Are all die sets created equal

I was amazed at how tight some of the non bushing standard sizing dies are once I understood the process. No wonder people have issues with necks splitting prematurely.

Are all die sets created equal

In all fairness to the donut on the Redding, it’s a standard .260 Remington while the SAC is 7-08 AI. The shoulder angle could be making the difference, although when I was using the standard 7-08 with a SAC I didn’t have any either. That was just 3 firings per case though.

Are all die sets created equal

I can’t measure the difference between my SAC modular sizing die and my Redding Competition. I can say the SAC has not shown even the beginning of a donut, while the Redding does. Both Lapua brass.

Describe your definition of “Alpha Glass”

With few exceptions I tend to agree. I wouldn’t cut and save to buy an alpha scope and I certainly would to buy an action, barrel, or quality reloading components. Saying all that I have zero regrets buying my ZCO.

Describe your definition of “Alpha Glass”

My buddy has about 50k in various guitars but refuses to upgrade his scope. He shoots and competes with a DMR II. which is a good scope for the $800 he paid on closeout.

Describe your definition of “Alpha Glass”

Indeed it would, that was outside of my thought process. Thanks. I’m a regular ole TL3 and Bartlien screwed on tight until its toast guy.

Describe your definition of “Alpha Glass”

Why are you resting your turrets often enough for that to be the show stopper for you? Honest question, I might reset mine once per thousand rounds or so.

And in the right conditions it can spots hits on paper at 500 yards.
