Tikka action vs. Zematt Origin action

I prefer the Tikka action for a hunting rifle because the safety locks the bolt and they are very reliable in standard cartridges. One thing to keep in mind with Tikkas chambered in body positive cartridges like the WSMs and 7 PRC is that they tend to eject at a high enough angle that if you are...

    New Sig CROSS

Is your wobble side to side? Mine's pretty solid when locked.

    SWFA ultra-light 2.5-10

I totally agree that there is a big hole in the scope market for a lightweight hunting scope with a simple but practical mil reticle. I also checked back in on the SWFA UL occasionally over the course of several years to see if maybe they'd add a mil quad option, I know the reviews on the scope...

    Hunting with an AR?

If a chilly handguard is keeping you from expanding your horizons to AR hunting, that's an easily solved problem with handguard wraps, rail covers or 10 cent camo athletic tape, all of which can be seen in various pictures in this thread.

    KAK products

I have a couple of their 12.5" mid gas barrels, one in 5.56 and one in 6mm ARC. Haven't worked up loads in either yet but the 5.56 is good for ~1.5" with 75gr AAC Saber black tip, plenty good for something that wears a 3x prism and is intending for around the property. I will be working up loads...

    Rifle Scopes SWFA Teasing Announcement?

Yeah, that got me a little interested too, turns out it was just heavy sarcasm I guess, should have seen that coming with SWFA.

    Rifle Scopes SWFA Teasing Announcement?

Pretty disappointing launch, no 6x, no Gen 2 3-9, I'd have even been pretty interested to try one of their Ultralights with a mil reticle, they should have done that years ago. I have one of their 3-15s that I still use often, mostly because it works and isn't worth selling, but there's no way...

    Trending 6 ARC barrel manufacturers??

My 6ARC from X-Caliber has also been quite good, it's a lightweight profile, shoots great and carries well.

    Hunting with an AR?

Had a pretty successful opening day of gun season with my new 12.5" 6 ARC. By new, I mean I ordered one of the new KAK 12.5" mid gas 6 ARC barrels to match the 5.56 version I already had and was pleased with when they came into stock a few weeks ago. Pulled my 16" Grendel barrel, and installed...

    16-18 inch shorty rifles

Not the Barnes, but 130gr TGK, this was with new brass, usually runs around 2,750 fps.

    338 ARC

You'd think not, but it took forever to get 6 ARC brass as a component when it came out... Supply chains and whatnot back then, but still.

    Primer blowout

I'm sure all manufacturers can have issues, but the brass colored Winchester primers are known for having had many lots with this defect in the past, specifically in the '08-'13 timeframe. The ones I had were WLRs, and it seems like those are the most cited online, but there are reports of the...

    Primer blowout

That looks like the patented Winchester primer shoulder pinhole defect, how old are these primers? Probably 15 years ago they had a bunch of WLRs with this defect, I had some and at least one non-swappable bolt head that got etched. I think they wound up replacing bolts for some folks, would...

Rifle Scopes MK5 HD 2-10x new reticles coming?

One of my Helos 2-12 was on a 300 WSM and something, I think in the parallax adjustment, gave out during a range session such that the view would go blurry after every shot. I could adjust it back to clear with the parallax knob, but it would go out again with the next shot. Sent it back for...

208 ELDM and 212 ELDX in 30-06 questions!

Hodgdon shows 52.4gr of H4350 as max for the 208gr ELDm, so it sounds about right being maxed out around there with the 212gr. I'd go for a slower powder to get more velocity with the heavies, in particular Staball 6.5. Book max shows 54.2gr as max, at a velocity 160fps higher than the H4350...

Geissele's New Heavy Barrel and SOLGW Broadsword project. (Up Date, 1st Load development session 18DEC24))

Agree with this, got one DT-PR to try out and I think it's going to wind up on some of my other rifles too.

    16” 6.5 creedmoor?

I'm talking about those two loads he cited as normal .308 loads, not the 80ksi loads. He hints that they are book loads or a half grain under, but he's getting 150fps - 200fps more than most folks and won't just come out and say what the actual load is.

    16” 6.5 creedmoor?

Why not include the actual information here, what are your loads for these, powder and charge?

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

KAK has had a 12.5" mid-gas 6 ARC barrel product page on their site for a few weeks now, but it finally came in stock so I have one on the way to keep my 18" and 21" ARCs company. It's a low end barrel obviously, but I've had good luck with the same format from them in 5.56, and I'm going to try...

Explain the Superlative Arms Adjustable Gas Block to me.

I haven't really noticed big velocity dips with my SA gas blocks. I suppose the bleed off level and barrel length after the block would affect that though, and I tend to go longer on gas systems for a given barrel length. If you're going to run a can, this an interesting post by a Dead Air...
