I wish I was paid by Hornady, that would be sweet...
Are you okay man? This is the 3rd post of mine this morning that you're going back and commenting on
Oh I struck a nerve with someone this morning!
Like I said OP, shoot the test again, and see for yourself. Fire the test in reverse order, results should repeat, right?
Or keeping looking for "nodes" in small samples. It's your time and money
Perfectly fine, I remember when I use to waste time doing these "tests" too.
OP the easiest way to see for yourself is to perform the test again, exactly the same, and I'll bet the results don't repeat like you would expect.
My $0.02: Velocity nodes aren't real, speed is a direct linear relationship with amount of powder. Everything you know is a lie. Your test means nothing and is well within the noise/typical variance of the system.
Pick the speed you want and shoot.
Give this a listen when you have the time:
0.003" ? Ridiculous increments. You'll be spending all your time testing if you go that small. I'd do more like 30 thou increments. And LARGE sample sizes. How did you determine your charge weight?
Could be normal shot distribution. You could easily be interpreting this "error" incorrectly.
How often are you actually observing this? Recorded sample sizes? Thought: If you printed (10x) 10-round groups, you're saying every single one has a "flier"?
If you're actually concerned with a...
My experience with AW mags is usually tuning the mag catch length until the mag is fully seated against the bottom of the action. If its cut for AW correctly that's about all you need to do. The Grey ops mag, as you know, can adjust the catch itself (same difference).
OP If you try and "tune"...
You could argue it was a game changer in the sense that it made other large manufacturing companies expand their rifle lineups to include more Chassis/6.5 Creedmoor options.
It seemed to draw more mainstream attention to precision rifles, the 6.5 Creedmoor, etc.. It's hard to actually prove...
Is the Ultimatum Deadline cut for AW mags? I didn't see it on their website, may have overlooked it
I built my wife a 6 BR on a Aero Solus action with the gray ops mags and it's been great so far, no issues.
Very cool analytical approach, thanks for the update/info!
The only thing I would warn against (and I've been trying myself to be more mindful of it) is small sample sizes and making incorrect assumptions... 10 round groups are better than 5, but I don't know if you can honestly draw any...
Great deal! Even if the barrel is shit (for whatever reason) it's still a solid deal.
You'll have to update us and post some groups whenever you take it out
6 *Creedmoor. Its designed around the longer bullets and is able to feed them at standard magazine lengths.
It would be hard to argue FOR the .243 WIN unless you had thousands of quality brass saved up
Buy one and let us know! Throw in the data too, like measure 50 finished length samples and share the results. I too am curious on how it will stack up against the existing competition
I used my finger and rubbed it off some, had an impulse to remove it, kind of like glue on your skin. Realized half way through that I didn't actually care and stopped doing it. Forgot it was there
