Cooper Model 54 Excalibur 260 Rem

I sure miss mine. Sold a semi-custom built off a Model 7 action and it was a great walkaround gun. Sold it because I have a 6.5 CM and though it was redundant as well. Cooper builds some exceptional rifles. I know you only sighted it in, but do enough shooting to get a feel from what it...

    My JP Valkyrie Shipped!

Getting me pumped for my 224 Valkyrie SCR-11 as well. Mine has a 20" light contour barrel with the UBR stock. Talking with JP, the 90gr Federal loads are shooting much tighter at elevation, so we'll see how it shoots at 6800 feet. Real interested in trying the Hornady 88gr ELD offering as well.

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

TL3 action with a Mark Chanlynn barrel in 6.5 CM. Mark did the complete build for me and includes a Jewel trigger. Manners T3 stock with a March 3-24X scope. It was built as a long range hunting and target rifle

Night Vision Need a Thermal scopes for long hog hunting

Pulsar Trail is growing on me. Saw a video of the XP50. While I would prefer to have a native magnification of higher than 1.6X, I was impressed how effective it was at ranges I expect to shoot. You could easily a 2'x2' steel plate at 250 yards at 1.6X. Definitely a lot to like.

Night Vision Need a Thermal scopes for long hog hunting

Thanks Wig. Finding objective reviews can be tough. But a few that I've seen that aren't outright marketing videos, seem to put ATN in the second position when comparing them to Pulsar or Armasight.

Night Vision Need a Thermal scopes for long hog hunting

So why not ATN? Saw a video by Lone Star Boars about his experience with three ATN Thor 640 with two out of three having problems that does give me pause. General gist of the video doesn't paint the ATNs in a good light in comparison to Armasight, FLIR and Pulsar. Other video reviews I've...

Night Vision Need a Thermal scopes for long hog hunting

How significant is the larger objective size in overall performance? Trying to understand what "information" it is pulling. I understand the concept of the larger objective pulling in more light and affording a wider FOV in traditional rifle scopes. Is the wider objective on a thermal...

Night Vision Need a Thermal scopes for long hog hunting

640 resolution is definitely the way to go, particularly if you plan on using the digital zoom. Resolution will go from very clear objects to looking more like blobs are you increase the zoom. While a number of thermal scopes have impressive magnification ranges, I question how usable it is at...

    LaRue kits

Here are some target pictures from the seller I purchased my Larue Kit 6.5 Grendel from and the rifle in question. I paid $1100 for the complete rifle, which includes the Larue lower, MBT, SLR adjustable gas block and MOE fixed stock. Ammo was 123gr Hornady Black. We'll see how well it likes...

JP Enterprises LRP-07 6.5CM Full Review

Great and timely article. I'm in the process of having JP build me an SCR-11 chassis system for my 224 Valkyrie build. Side charging setup has always interested me. Hope to have the JP barrel later this month.

    LaRue kits

The upper kit is a good way to pick up a Larue compared to the next cheaper option of their PredatAR. I have the 18" PredatAR and it is a very accurate rifle with five round groups running in the .65 to .71" range with 69gr FGMM ammo. I recently purchased a complete rifle built from the Larue...

    Lithgow LA101

Can't speak highly enough about it. I just flat shoots with a variety of ammo but it does have a preference for Lapua. Trigger is still the biggest negative on the rifle, but it isn't bad enough for me to do something about it. Always had an itch to purchase an Anschutz 1416 in a Manner's T6...

Sidearms & Scatterguns How much would you pay for a custom 1911?

I'm a fan of semi-custom/custom 1911s. It is like fine optics. Once you've experienced quality glass, it is hard to go back. Production 1911s, particularly Dan Wesson, have come a long way in frame to slide fit, trigger and barrel quality, so the difference between a semi-custom/custom and a...
