    Movie Theater My Octopus Teacher

Very true. Although I would suggest there are degrees. We like to think we’re the end all to be all, but we’re not. We’re busy changing the context for adaptation rather than finding a way to enjoy the blessing we inherited.

    Movie Theater My Octopus Teacher

Stunning videography and an interesting window on octopuses. If you’ve spent a good amount of time underwater, it’s a nice reminder. Makes you wonder if we are actually the pinnacle of evolution or not.

6.5 PRC Build - Barrel Length and Twist

I am having good success with the 156 EOL @ ~2,940fps through a 24” Bartlein 5R with 7.75 twist. Also great with Hammer Hunter 124gr solids @ ~3,150fps.

Hiding a Safe in an exposed room

If your tile was set without gaps in the mortar bed that helps. I used a ~1/4” thick insulation pad without seams under 1” floor sheathing (plywood), the kind that interlocks at the edges. This worked while rolling a safe over a relatively fragile tile floor with a two wheel dolly. The pad and...

Gunsmithing Painting a scope...how to securely hold it while coating?

I think I’m going to go with this. One wire for hanging it to dry and a cardboard insert to assist in getting even spray.

Gunsmithing Painting a scope...how to securely hold it while coating?

Pic rail sounds good. It shadows the bottom somewhat, but as brianf sez, that’s the least visible area. Thanks for the input.

Gunsmithing Painting a scope...how to securely hold it while coating?

I’m getting ready to paint a scope and am trying to figure out a good way to either hold the optic, or hang it, while spraying the paint. I am painting it with the rings on, so could hang it from the bolt hole in the bottom of the ring, but am thinking the wire could get in the way and/or rub...

    Hexagonal Boron Nitride bullet coating

Not sure about intervals yet but when I do clean it goes quickly, ie, not much to show on the patches. That could be from a nicely lapped barrel as well.

    Hexagonal Boron Nitride bullet coating

This is the primarily why I take the time to work with HbN. Cold bore is in the group.

    Vihtavuori Powder

If you are using Bergers you can call their Tech Support ( 660-460-2802 )and they will give you 6.5 PRC load data. For the 156gr EOL I have found good results with VV N565. For the Hammer Hunter 124gr solid, this load was confirmed by Hammer and works well for my setup: Chamber by GAP with the...

Some of you suggested looking at .300BO vs 5.56

The Lehigh 194gr ME is a an excellent subsonic bullet that expands reliably. Not cheap but it gets the job done. My handloads zero at 20yds, are ~2” high at 50yds and are back to zero at 90yds. I use it on ‘varmints’ out to 100Y. Out to 200Y, I use the Barnes 110gr Vor-Tx. 300BLK is...

    Internal Donut on new brass?

Yep, we’ll see what evolves over time. These are to be dedicated to a hunting barrel so I’m not going to get to more than a few firings over time.

    Internal Donut on new brass?

Finally got back to this with larger mandrels from 21st C. Using a 0.263“ mandrel, hitting it three times, slowly, I end up with 0.2625“ for the upper portion of the neck, and 0.262” where the neck joins the shoulder. Bullets seat without issue now. Feedback from ADG was kindly, indicating...

    LRI

They got two barrels to chamber from me a couple of weeks ago. Coordination call this past Monday, estimated completion in ~two more weeks. Nobody else I know of is as quick as LRI. Call and ask for Eric or Kalli to get more info on what’s up.

    Gun safe recommendations

If you don’t use a safe mover, which I now recommend after moving one up a flight of stairs solo, you can remove the door then move the body and door separately. You’ll need a heavy duty dolly with strap(s), two or three guys, plywood on moving blankets to protect tile or softer wood floors...
