    While I didn't do a careful test to see if there is a difference I do believe my SD is better. The SD's have been single digit for a load the rifle likes. While developing a load you'll see SD's that are larger and smaller. I don't understand why this is but it's something I've noticed.

    If the trigger is not holding the firing pin back while closing the bolt, wouldn't opening the bolt re-cock the firing pin?

    I'm using a PMA vice with a piece of target wrapped around the barrel for grip and protection. I've read people sometimes use drywall joint tape, (the dry type), to do similar purpose.

    You might need to use a CCI450 for more consistent ignition in the 308 case.

    I was having trouble with a lot of Hornady match not working well. I pulled the bullet on a "good" one and on a "bad" one. I found that they used as totally different powder in them.

    Try some Federal Gold Metal Match with the 168 gr Sierra Match King and the 175 gr SMK. It should shoot one of those decently.

    Have you looked at the LEE case trimmers? I use the one that's titled 'case length' and it works amazingly well with a cordless drill.

    That's about right for a steel barrel. If you would be happy with 1 moa then buy a new factory rifle. I love the Tikka actions too.
