    Coyote rifle help

No, not really? You have a whole thread of guys saying somewhere between "Will kill, but it sucks" through "No, just don't". There is only one guy here that was really in favor of it, and @coldboremiracle doesn't know the difference between a pdog and a song dog. (lmao! That WAS a big...

    Coyote rifle help

I've got a lot of experience with the 90 Sierra and Berger both, as far as 1,000...plain ol' Lapua blue box. I disagree with you, but then again, I haven't shot a coyote with your rifle and loads. OTOH, I also haven't ever shot a couote with 55 ball. Despite thousands of JLK80, Berger 73, and...

MOH recipient LCpl Kyle Carpenter, USMC (Ret.) on Afghanistan

Interesting perspectives, and I can take a push. My purpose in this thread was, and continues to be, simply recognizing the sacrifices made by service members for this country, and the heroism of MOH recipients in particular. I continue to bump the thread so that new, and/or younger members of...

MOH recipient LCpl Kyle Carpenter, USMC (Ret.) on Afghanistan

Due respect to you, but without a hell of a lot of qualification on your CV, you don't have much license to debate what Mr. Carpenter thinks or says. This isn't a political discussion thread. It is one of RESPECT at a level very few human beings ever earn. The content of his words is less than...

    Coyote rifle help

Yup. Mine have mostly been with a straight .243 and 75-85 grain bullets. They do NOT get up from that very often. Edit: Tracked one example, probably 20 years ago, where an ol' boy put one in the dirt with a 3" 20 gauge at about 15 mostly vertical yards. For you non-shotgun types: That's...

    Coyote rifle help

We think alike. You must have lost some, or tracked some that had been lost. We've done more with .223 than it ever owed anybody, but coyotes are a lot tougher than some other types of animals.

    Coyote rifle help

.223 is a 200 yard cartridge on coyotes. At best. You need a medium-capacity 24-26 caliber, or a large capacity 22 caliber. (eg Swift, Middlestead, .22-250 Ackley, .22 Creed).

    Two-stage triggers

4-5 pounds can be made very manageable by good triggers. Good, in my opinion, being defined by their predictability. As an example, the Geissele HSNM and the Wisconsin triggers are built around 4.50-5.0 lb total weight, but depending on the setup, you can get them down to 8-10 oz on the second...

    Two-stage triggers

I'm not upset. Might be the usual internet communication breakdown. It sounded like you were lecturing me about 2-stage triggers, but if that wasn't your intent... Yeah, I agree on the finger-hole. I often wear the old wool military liners, and have cut a slit in several of them. But I HAVE to...

    Two-stage triggers

Brother, I'm pretty adapted. 😆 My point was directed at field use. My experience with a 3.7 oz 5018, with thousands of rounds below freezing, and quite a few boxes in temperatures below 15 degrees, has shown my point to be fact. And I have a "rather sensitive" index finger and reaction time...

    Two-stage triggers

Only catch to that is that the 1st stage has to be heavy enough, and/or have enough tactile feedback (grit) to let you know it's there. Otherwise, it doesn't help, and because you are moving the trigger backwards at some speed, you can pull right through the break. Anschutz, for example.

    Two-stage triggers

No, you won't. You might WANT to, but it's not required. I shoot triggers from single stage 75 gram, through 4.85 lb two stage, with several 2-3.5 lb boltgun triggers set up as squishy single stages. I shoot them all well. Focus and mental training is the key. Jerry could take a fucking...

    Slower powder for AR10 loads?

You aren't confused, just ignorant. Slower powder doesn't necessarily mean lower energy. The slowest powders in common use are for .50 BMG, and similar, for example. Slower means that it takes a longer burn time to reach peak pressure. Think about this. Whereas, gas port is in an immovable...

    Slower powder for AR10 loads?

Look at your FP tip, bolt face, and annular clearance of the FP. Might take some gages, but if you blew primers, you did damage.

    Slower powder for AR10 loads?

I feel like this got glossed over a little bit, so I'm going to re-emphasize that statement. You need to FULLY understand your gas system and how load changes will interact with it, or you will continue to break things.

    What is a Budget Optic

No, what is "retarded" is assuming that by being more expensive, it means that the sighting system is also more accurate, rugged, cute, awesomer, better on tailgate expos... etc. Generally, that is the case. But there are enough exceptions out there that much of this viewership would consider...
