What happened to using a sling?

No not that guy, the guy that designed the sling as in the 1907 sling was Col. Wright USA. this according too shooting historian Hap Rocketto.

My Holy Grail: USMC 1903A1 Unertl Sniper

I have heard the same said about NS bolts on the net, but of all the old time shooters that I knew that were hard core power shifters have never mentioned it. So strictly speaking for myself I have chalked it up too being a internet fable...

Cleaning your rifle - bore snake vs cleaning rod

I have a bore snake and I only use it for a quick pass or two at the range too sweep out and carbon/powder residue, when I get home the bore gets a proper cleaning with rod.

You need too go over and check out Murphy's they might have something a little more fitting for glass. Tell the crew I said "HI".

    .308 Winchester

Way, way back in the stone age the original Federal Match load for .308 used a 168SMK under 39.5grs of IMR-3031 in there case. Fixed it for you.

    Springfield M1A

I agree, it has been said that the "Men's" rifles have the fastest cycling action of gas operated rifles and thus there recoil is a rather abrupt snap or maybe feels a little stiffish because of it, PHAT bloated cases are common because the action is still tugging out a hot fired case from the...

    Springfield M1A

Well get with it and snag one up. IF and IF you don't like it in the end you can always peddle it and say you have given it a go.

    Springfield M1A

I'm not a collector, I'm a shooter like many others. These don't need too be expensive in fact if you get with the right people they don't really cost anymore too build than a NM AR type. Feeding them is another matter altogether, but when your shooting 88rds across the course whats a couple of...

    Springfield M1A

Last trip out too range. I cranked off this nice little group from a rapid prone at 200yds duffing around. I used some plain old LC M852 ammo that I had hidden away and rediscovered. Lots of little tricks went into this build that the Ar fan boi's cant see and or don't know about, all in all...

    308 military brass

Stop trying too stuff a fat bloated case in a S/B sizer, first size these cases in a F/L 30.06 with the depriming stem removed . When that's done size/deprime in your .308 die set. The idea is too work the case down gradually in smaller increments, don't forget too lube your cases.

Did I just screw my rifle by shooting surplus cupronickel bullets through it?

News too me? I like Varget it doesn't seem too be any harder too clean up than any other powder is. Then again I do admit, I burn my share of 4064 and 4320 as well..

Did I just screw my rifle by shooting surplus cupronickel bullets through it?

Im not a fan of cleaning my bores with any abrasives so as a std practice, I clean my bores with a 50/50 mixture of my favorite solvent (BBS or #9) and Kroil.

Yes the short side has the odd Marine pattern, however instead of the short strap being stitched I had Les rivet it. The keepers are sown without staples, your correct the leather is as thick as is NRA/CMP legal. I liked your description of the Caterpillar track and its fitting. I spoke with...

    Springfield M1A

Its been fun watching everyone grasping at straws. This sling is a close clone of the Marine Corps 1907 sling using my Grand Fathers(USMC ret.) recycled frogs, it was strapped up by Les Tam. There are many details that are purposely omitted from a original Marine 1907 sling, just because I...

    Springfield M1A

I’ve been using a M14/M1a since I got into shooting HP(Service Rifle) back in 1992. These are not complicated rifles too make run and contrary too popular belief they don’t just got sour on a whim. Good used USGI mags can be had for reasonable prices, I snag nice mags for $20-25 a pop at the...

    Sling recommendations?

Hmmm that really depends, are you going too shoot from position with it or just use it as a carrying strap? Regardless I'm still stuck in past or old school, It’s hard too beat a quality 1907 sling. Here is my Les Tam attached too the latest build.
