    Military 6.5

I would guess that any military use of modern 6.5 ammo would just use civilian ammo. If the purpose is precision, then there is nothing wrong with civvie ammo. Keep fighting—you are sure to win! God helps you in your fight! For fame and freedom march with you, And right is on your side! -T.S.

At my wits end... need some help from my Fellow 'Hiders. Chicken Fried Steak!

If your "by feel" method is failing then the only way to do it is to engineer it properly. Get a good thermometer and stick it in your oil throughout the process. Note how the temperature drops hard when you insert the chicken. It took me a few tries to get fried chicken right, but now it's a...

    Kahles owners, your thoughts….

I love my k624. Shot a pig at rock throwing distance with it last week. That's what I want the extra FOV for. Yes I have other rifles and scopes that are better for close in shots, but at this time I had the rifle with the Kahles in my hands and it worked out (not the first time).

The German WW2 standard rifle ammo had a .56 g1 bc

Who makes 8 mm bullets that mimic the old heavy pointed bullet? Prvi?

The German WW2 standard rifle ammo had a .56 g1 bc

I figured this is the right place to appreciate the ballistics of the standard German rifle cartridge of ww2. It had a G1 bc substantially higher than the much younger .308 180 gr Nosler ballistic tip. The below is quoted from the wiki article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.92%C3%9757mm_Mauser

Hot Take; Putin needs to just level Ukraine to save us from ourselves

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to spend tax dollars on Ukraine. No hard feelings from me on that point. I live a short drive from this mess. I know Ukrainians. I know Russians. I (kinda) speak their language. I know Ukraine is corrupt. I do not deny that. I know...

Hot Take; Putin needs to just level Ukraine to save us from ourselves

I'm really writing this against better judgement, but here goes... 1) Every single penny in the defense budget of my country (Europe) is spent to create deterrence against Russia. Russian expansionism is not "the thing of the day" except for on US TV channels. For everybody living next to...

WTF Avg. American has $75k in savings...

Median is not the same as average. Could be that Elon and The German are skewing the results.

Ok, so I got's the Rona. Feel awful, yet...I feel I could do a regular workout

People who have a routine for a "regular workout" aren't the people who need to worry about covid. Personally, I enjoyed the loss of sense of smell when changing the diapers on our youngest.

Is something going on in Ukraine?

Ukraine is doing its best to get out from under Russias boot after literally centuries of oppression. For those of us who live next to the perpetual car crash that is Russia, it is glorious to see the Ukrainians getting away from those disgusting backwards mafiosos with nukes. I don't blame you...

    Tikka T3 Thread

I Realistically, the difference in accuracy is likely to be bigger between individual rifles rather than the model. They're all good. Some of them are better than others. Some custom rifles may be quantifiably better. It is often said that thicker barrel profiles are easier to get to shoot...

What is Reno Nevada like? (Update: Looking for a rental)

My wife and I (European tourists) spent a day and a night in Reno a couple of years ago. The hotel was very nice for what we paid for it (central Reno). I made her spend time with me at a rental shooting range. They were staffed by extremely friendly and service-minded people. We had breakfast...

Short Barrel, Short Range Elk Rifle

.308 would be enough with the right load. That cartridge would also play nice with a 20" barrel and it would go well with a lighter rifle. If you want more power and you're already loading for 7 SAUM then I'd go with that and not worry about it. You're really not asking too much of this rifle...

    Tikka T3 Thread

So I got myself an MDT Oryx on Black Friday. I Kind of get the feeling that maaaybe the action isn't sliding all the way down into the chassis. Is it at all feasible that the recoil lug wouldn't fit in the slot in the T3 action? I don't want the action screws to have to take the recoil impuse...

    MDT Oryx Chassis

While at a local gun shop I saw a Tikka CTR in an Oryx chassis, using the original Tikka CTR mags. The guys at the gunshop weren't really sure of what mods had been made but assured me it worked perfectly. Has anybody on here tried combining the CTR mags with the Oryx chassis?

Prvi Partizan 308 168 gr BTHP

I think Prvi loads both a 168 gr bthp and a "match" load for a similar bullet. That might confuse matters somewhat. Edit: yeah, the Prvi website has two different article numbers for the 168 gr .308 MATCH cartridge and the normal cartridge with the same style bullet. The bullets loaded in those...

Strelok: 155 gr Scenar L vs Scenar G7 BC

You guys are right, I wasn't thinking straight. I found this anomaly while watching my little one year old raging barbarian.

    Tikka T3 Thread

I was at the lgs the other day and saw an MDT Oryx with a CTR magazine in it. I asked them and they said they had done some mods but couldn't remember what they had done exactly. Has any of the Oryx owners here tried to get them running with CTR mags?

Strelok: 155 gr Scenar L vs Scenar G7 BC

Lapua recently discontinued the 155 gr Scenar in favour of a Scenar L bullet with the same mass. From reading online and confirming with Lapua I learned that these two bullets are supposed to be exactly the same except the L version has tighter tolerances. Well my Strelok app, which I believe...

Nothing. I have a straight 0 MOA base on a straight rail mounted on a .308. Using a scope with target turrets, I run out of elevation at around 1000 meters. If you use a straight shooting cartridge like a .22-250 for much shorter ranges you should be ok even with a scope design that isn't long...
