    Check your action Mount screw torque, scope mount tightness, and alignment. I would then try some Federal Gold Medal 168 grain. If the gun still does not shoot have buddy try it. After all of this I would maybe think of a new barrel.

    You can install a Non-QC barrel on a QC action. I suspect that some will want the full threads action for peace of mind and maybe a tighter barrel.     1600 rounds is about where I would expect the barrel to drop off. But the velocity numbers don’t normally go up at end of life. The other things like pressure and you saying you are at minimum loads. Have you checked you powder thrower against a different scale?

    Would that be a factory barrel? Those are ugly pictures. I don’t know what the rest of the barrel looks like, but you are not going to lap those out.

    I am not sure either. A heavy bullet still needs to move quick to achieve any semblance of accuracy or terminal performance. Yeah, maybe not low threes for a 90 grain, but probably 2800ish or so.     Why would the spotter be 5 football fields away from the shooter? Shooter would not even be able to her the spotter. If the two are separated at a reasonable distance the difference in distances would be inconsequential.

    It was with the knowledge that barrels are expendable in the pursuit of high performance that I built my 22 Creedmoor with a Zeus QC action. This way I don’t have to remove the action from the stock to replace a barrel.
