22 LR Long Range Dispersion, What is the Culprit

A buddy tested my single shot Anschutz 1907 3p match rifle with scope at 200m with Lapua Long Range. Out of the box unbedded rifle. 27" barrel with a slight choke. No wind. 10 shots at 200m: 25 shots at 200m:

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Well, I used an "ADL" rifle, based on a M98 Mauser action, for many years in the Norwegian NG. The foorplate on these were never opened. My thoughts are that anything that can be kept away from Murphy is a good thing. Even a missing rigger's tape.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

I've never understood why they didn't go for an ADL solution on the M40A1. "Bulletproof" and impossible to open the foorplate by accident.

    Weaver T-10

I bet they dialed. Remember, this is in the heyday of 500m metallic silhouette shooting an the Weaver T-series was THE scope for the event. The MS shooters dialed a lot for range all day and the T-scopes were the only scopes that could handle all the dialing. I'm sure the T10 was procured...

    Brx1 Is hammer Trigger's slower?

The gap on the first, most important, shot can never be bridged. In the old Olympic event, Running Deer Doubles, the gap on the second follow up shot were never bridged. In the 50'ies US shooters tried the M14 and were outscored by mostly Ross straight pulls. (even used by the Soviets rechamberd...

    Brx1 Is hammer Trigger's slower?

As a moving target competition shooter, issf-style, I can testify that hammer rifles are a no go for serious shooting. I think 99% of metallic silhouette shooters will agree. (unless they are shooting in a separate class for hammer rifles) A new shooter definetly benefits by shooting a rifle...

    "Clay drone" flying/moving target?

Hi Sirh, We have a lot of moving target ranges in Norway. The "clay drone" is just trying to stretch rifle shooting to another, and very relevant, level. Yes, surplus dinner plates are an option for having fun. However, for comps the targets have to be "repetitive" and have better and stable...

    "Clay drone" flying/moving target?

Does anybody know if there are large (12" ?) clay targets and throwing systems that can simulate a flying drone? Want to keep the clay target within safe elevation of a rifle range, with a flight time of app 3 - 4 seconds, at ranges between 200 - 400m. This would definetly spice up long range...

    HH Kehner Winchester Pre-64 H&H 300 engraved

If you want a new scope on this rifle, get a scope that can be mounted as low as possible with new "rings" in the original claw mount bases. One of the new low powered tactical scopes, 1-8x24 with straight objective tube, is perfect for this. The new scope has to be long enough to just reach the...

Any Browning Hi-Power guys? Question about an MKIII Standard

I'm not sure. I bought it new around year 2000. MIM sear has been replaced by a forged one of WW2 origin and, for a mysterious reason, the trigger is better than on my gunsmith tuned 1911. And that 1911 trigger is good. Mag safety is deleted. New front sight. 100% reliable.

Best out the box production/factory bolt rifle around nowadays

If shooting off hand is also on the programme, not only fence post benchrest, none of the rifles metioned in this thread can hold a candle to this Bleiker CISM with 10 round magazine in any SA match caliber topped with a scope  These are factory off the shelf rifles. Same goes for the...

Scope mount for swiss k31 rifle

Use Swissproductsusa drill and tap mount for left side placement of the scope. Then use a Garand type cheekpiece to get proper cheek contact. By doing this there is no need to move the head during cycling of the bolt and one can reach the straight pull rifles full potential during rapid fire...
