    it's there any benefit to adding a new, flat ground recoil lug? that might be the only reason I'd pull it apart.

    I took my rifle apart last night so I can separate the action and barrel. plan is to chop it a few inches and recrown it. so looking at it, I got to wondering, can you take the trigger assembly, and the magazine body off the action and turn it the entire barreled action?

    Gunsmithing DIY savage bolt lift kit...

    Re: DIY savage bolt lift kit... having the BAS loose doesn't effect the bolt handle when lifting and closing the bolt. I also noticed that I have to put significant pressure on the BAS to get the first few threads started. I don't think I saw anyone else mention this.

    need help with case length for multiple rifles

    If I use the 'chamber a case' method to size the casing for my Savage, how do I measure for my HK91? I'd prefer to use the same case dimension for both rifles, just for simplicity sake. Any help is appreciated.

    I was thinking about shortening the barrel on my .308, but it got me thinking about terminal ballistics. Does a .308 need a certain velocity to be effective like .223? What would be an effective range for a rifle with a 18''-20'' barrel? (I know that they are accurate out to 800+ yards)...
