Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review Part V Warranty Vortex built its position by having the best warranty in the business. And that does not stop with the Fury. Like everything Vortex sells, it’s covered for life with their no-fault warranty. While that’s reasonably impressive for the optics, but...

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review Part IV Kestrel Connection The only other RF that I am aware of that boasts such a robust onboard solver is the Sig 2400 ABS, which has been on the market for many years at this point. In regards to its solver capability, it has been at the top of the game up to...

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review Part III Non-Reflective, Rain Even more interesting was what I found when the rain came down, something I was keen to test after hearing from Vortex how their engineers had put a particular emphasis on inclement weather performance. During these tests, using the...

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review Part II Ranging As I mentioned previously, the real changes in the Fury ABs revolve around ballistics, information utilization and workflow, not around ranging. The ranging hardware and software for the Fury AB’s is the same as the Fury 5k HD’s. Nothing has...

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB Review

Whenever a new rangefinder comes out, the first thing I usually look at these days is what does it do with the data. There are a lot of RF’s out there, and most of the flagship models for each company are doing pretty well in the ranging department. No, they usually do not hit deer at their...

    Sig BDX Scope Review

Dave, just getting back to this. Basically, yes, you should be able to go in through the app and bond the scope to the system. There is a particular process for doing that, I think it's in that pack of videos I sent you. That said, if you have problems getting it done, it might be easier to...

    Sig BDX Scope Review

Yeah, it can be a little complicated without some direction. Fortunately, Sig has put out a series of videos on how to use the system. You can go here: If you are still having difficulties, their tech folks would be glad to help. If you have any problems reaching them, let me know and I'll...

New Leica Rangemaster 2800.com & Kestrel with Applied Ballitsics

Leica makes one for their RF's, at least they did recently. It's machined aluminum. Contact them directly if you can't find it on the web, I am sure they can set you up.

New Kit to test: Vortex Fury 5000 AB

I just got these, so my impressions are severely limited so far, but it depends what your are expecting out of the glass. If you are looking for Leica level, nope, but then we are talking an entirely different price point here. But if you are expecting what you would get out of a sig 3k or a...

New Kit to test: Vortex Fury 5000 AB

I won't probably have this review done for a month or two, but I can tell you just in the few days I've used it, the scan function works well, it definitely increases the distance at which I can get a range. As to beam size and sensor alignment, not there yet, but I am pretty sure it's going to...

New Kit to test: Vortex Fury 5000 AB

I don't have an original Fury, but talking to Vortex, I am told that the ranging and glass are the same as the non AB Fury HD. The difference is in the addition of environmentals, connection to the Kestrel etc.

New Kit to test: Vortex Fury 5000 AB

Just received these to review. It will be a while before the review is complete, but if there is anything particular y'all would like me to test, let me know and I'll do my best.

Sig BDX and Leica RF freeze test

Those are interesting articles, particularly the one on Rokslide. Think I'm gonna have to try and freeze up my batteries and see what happens. It does seem that might be the issue based on those articles.

Rifle Scopes New BDX Scopes and Updates from Sig

So rather than derail this thread, I just created another one here: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/sig-bdx-and-leica-rf-freeze-test.7050593/ Quick and dirty test, certainly not comprehensive, but stuff seemed to work okay.

Sig BDX and Leica RF freeze test

On another thread, the question came up this morning about some RF's not working well in freezing conditions, and there was some question around how the BDX system would work under freezing conditions, particularly in terms of communication and also being able to see the dots. Some had heard...

Rifle Scopes New BDX Scopes and Updates from Sig

Curiosity got the better of me. I tossed in one of the BDX scopes I have, along with the 3k BDX and my Leica 2800...put them in my deep freeze -10 or so....lets see what happens.

Rifle Scopes New BDX Scopes and Updates from Sig

Yeah, I would guess batteries then. I have used my Kestrel, Leica's and Sig stuff all in below freezing temps and never had a problem, but I have noticed the battery in the Kestrel will show lower when it's really cold, even though its a lithium battery. Then it restores itself as it warms up...
