    Pearce, The bolt sleeve allows us to reduce the rifles length approx 1.5-2" shorter than it would have to be otherwise. That reduction allows shorter individuals to use our rifles.

    If you are well versed with a dremel you could also modify your stock skins so you don't have to remove the hook this is what I would recommend for those with a steady hand.

    .338 Lapua help

    If you want to shoot beyond 1500 yards and you can handle recoil shoot the 300's if not shoot the 250's. The Lapua scenars or Bergers are great in both weights. I don't have any experience with the Hornady's so can't comment on them.

    get a temp laser from auto store and measure chamber temp before you shoot and then again after you stop until barrel chamber is same temp and time it. :)

    Hunting with SRS Coverts with 26" 338LM barrels, shot seven stags between us, the average kill distance was 650 yards. ;)

    Orkan is spot on. The smk conforms to rifling more easily. The harder turned solds are much stiffer and do not. That is why the pressure goes up it is also why they tend to fouls barrels more than jacketed bullets.

    You might try rubber spray paint on the foot likely take 10 coats. If it don't work its easy to remove.
