Rescued a Golden Retriever. Now what???

Yep. He does that too. He is a goofball. Sometimes the black lab looks at him and it almost seems like the lab is thinking "son....there ain't no part of your brain that works right". He is growing on me and its good to hear that others see the same behavior's.

Rescued a Golden Retriever. Now what???

fair point about the old owner. I just dont have any respect for someone like that. Shit head. I think he will be a good dog. The last 3 I rescued were all sort of low energy black labs so this one is kind of not like they were. He is however the only dog that I have ever had that will...

Rescued a Golden Retriever. Now what???

UKDslayer, Thanks for the input and I am with you. I have noticed that its a bit of an odd balance trying to find the point where he is paying attention to what is being asked and not asking in such a way that he gets cratered. So.....for now its just getting him to trust with only small amounts...

Rescued a Golden Retriever. Now what???

Ok. I will get some pics and thanks for the feedback. Everything you are all saying is about right from my limited experience. A while back he got in a little trouble for dragging one of my shoes outside. As he ran by with the shoe in his mouth I grabbed him by the collar and yelled at him. He...

Rescued a Golden Retriever. Now what???

Ya know.....he's one of those guys. He is an almost sponsored bass fisherman but he has no boat. He guides duck hunts but doesn't really make any money at it and no one wants to go with him. So shit head announces on a local radio show that he has a great bird dog that needs a new home. I dont...

anyone out there doing tenkara style fly fishing?

Thanks for the explanation and I can see how that could make sense in certain cases. Maybe I just need to try it. But then again, last fire we had burned up a big chunk of the area I liked to fish so there is that......

anyone out there doing tenkara style fly fishing?

The vast majority of my fishing is in the northern part of the state also and, at least for me, I dont think it would work on the bigger sections of the Feather, Truckee, Sac, etc. However, once you get above the west slope from Chico north there are a bunch of small streams where I could see...

anyone out there doing tenkara style fly fishing?

It seems like that is about what Tenkara is but with a more sophisticated rod/line. I can see it being used in some of those small creeks where the water is cold, fast, clear and not very wide. Just not sure what you do if you happen upon a beaver dam and hook into a bigger fish that may want...

anyone out there doing tenkara style fly fishing?

More and more I have been fishing smaller western streams( the kind you can almost step over) and ran into a guy doing tenkara fly fishing. Light rod, no reel, small selection of flies. He seemed to really like but I was trying to get back to the truck before I lost all light so we did not talk...

    Franks mom passed away.

Frank, I am sorry for the loss. Its never easy to lose someone that has had a big and positive influence on your life. For me I try to practice the idea that a person is never really gone if someone says their name.

Best way to repair cracked plastic gas tank on boat.

Thanks. I managed to talk with someone at the place where the tanks are manufactured. While they no longer make a direct replacement they did share other sizes that would fit. 8-10 week delivery time. While that is in process they mentioned that there are products that will fill in the crack...

Best way to repair cracked plastic gas tank on boat.

thanks folks. I will start looking at those. The filler neck comes into a rather flat area that has no reinforcement so there is some flex in that area so, at least to me, I think it would make sense to have the repair have some flex in it also. Thanks again.....

Best way to repair cracked plastic gas tank on boat.

I know..... this is pretty far of topic for SH but I cant seem to find a good workable answer for this. The tank on my pontoon boat has some surface cracks. While it does not seem to be taking on any water one of the grandkids thought that filling it was like a car and, as a result, there is a...

Recommendation request for shocks on my pick up truck

Thanks again. Some of the more expensive options are probably not what I feel comfortable spending. The truck has over 200k miles on it and needs a lot of work. You know.... the drivetrain seems to be doing well but everything else is falling apart. Tach works only part of the time, side...

Recommendation request for shocks on my pick up truck

I know this is a little ways away from twist rate, caliber, etc but I would appreciate any guidance on replacement shocks for a 2006 Dodge 3500 dually. The last two sets I have purchased haven't lasted more than30-40k miles and that seems low to me. One set was what a dealer put on and the...

I learned something about Korean conflict combat vets last weekend

I guess life looks different if you are lucky enough to make it into your 90's like these guys or maybe they were always the quiet "get it done" sort of guys. Regardless, they weren't whining about things....just commenting. Some of their comments really struck him with me. WWII vets were part...

I learned something about Korean conflict combat vets last weekend

Last weekend I was driving through town to drop off some mail. Its a small town with only 2 stop signs and parking on the street with a dually is not gonna work so I parked down the road that the feed store. As I am walking to drop off the mail I pass a tiny war memorial on the corner(probably...

    Maggie’s The Retired Guy Thread

Remaction, I am aligned with Hobo and I think he raises one of the most important points in financial freedom and that is calculating the cost of risk. With all due respect perhaps I can use the example you provided..... If you get a car loan that is at 2.5% and you are getting 10% average...
