    224 Valkyrie upper

Sounds like your barrel may be undergassed? Might need to open up the gas port just a touch. I had to do the same to my .224V barrel to get factory 88 hornady’s to cycle fully.

    New gas gun build

@ShooterwithNoName Why the move to a shorter barrel with the Valkyrie? I too have a 20” .224V (Craddock Bartlein 1/7 twist) and I wonder if I should have went longer.

    Need a new .223 barrel

This is about the same weight as a gov’t profile barrel, but it’s a “reverse gov’t” profile, so it balances quite nicely: https://www.lothar-walther.com/bargains/935/ar15-light-w.-mid-l.-stainless-5-56x45nato-mud-1/2-28-tpi-l-16?c=12 About $150 shipped. After I bedded this barrel with red...

    Rifle Scopes LE Duty optic

I’d say NXS is still a viable option for the sub $2k price point. That is what my agency uses (5.5-22x). Our agency covers both suburban and rural areas. My friend who is on the sniper team said while most of his positions are within 100 yards of the target, he has needed the high end of...

    .224 Valkarye Accuracy Experience

Paul Craddock said the Criterion barrels in .224V last roughly for 3000 rounds. The Bartleins will have roughly 6000 rounds of barrel life.

    .224 Valkarye Accuracy Experience

When I was asking about a .224 upper, Paul Craddock recommended sticking with a 1/7 twist since I was planning to shoot just factory ammo. He said 1/6.5 twist looks to be more picky about loads.

    22 Creedmoor vs 224 Valkarie

The 6-8000 round barrel life with .224 Valkyrie, is it with a cut rifled barrel or will a button rifled barrel be able to do the same? Will there be an appreciable difference in barrel life between the two different styles of rifling in .224V ?

200 yd groups not what expected

@Lowlight Why does the angle of groups typically grow in size the further out shooters go? If it’s because of the shooter, why is it the target isn’t telling the tale at 100? I recently noticed this nonlinear growth of group size between 100 & 200 yards when shooting my AR. I assumed it was...

Craddock Precision .224V Upper Barrel Question

I am looking to get into a .224V upper. The Craddock Precision 20” complete upper looks to be a good turn key solution. It comes with a 1/7 twist Criterion barrel. https://craddockprecision.com/medium-heavy-contour-224-valkyrie-complete-upper/ I will use this for an occasional long range steel...

Long Range Positional Workshop - based on Sniper Hide feedback on our survey

Thank you to Diver160651 and Scott of the Avenal Gun Club for hosting this generous workshop. I really appreciated being able to try out the high end tripods and bags on the line. The efficient tips given allowed fairly new long distance shooters like myself get consistent solid hits out at...

Rifle Scopes GAP Deal on Bushnell LRHS Scopes

I did an impromptu mini torture test of my LRHS. Knocked my PWS AR15 off the table while I was cleaning it. The scope (in a Bobro single lever mount) took a violent hit on the elevation knob. Enough force to bend the brass turret. Besides the crooked turret limiting downward travel, the scope...

Anyone have any experience with this tripod.

Re: zero shift, I asked someone more experienced than me and he said it was likely due to the harmonica of the gas gun coupled with the less than optimal tripod legs. The zero shift was fairly repeatable both kneeling and standing.

Anyone have any experience with this tripod.

I also sheared off one of the locking ridges on mine after about 6 months of range use. Night Goggles sent me a replacement hub fairly quickly. I’ve shot my AR a bunch off of the Night Stalker. With a sling tethered to my belt it’s a viable shooting rest. I am able to hold about 2 MOA while...
