Why do I only seem to see bolt rifles at precision shooting matches?

Ok first off I will say that I may be totally misinformed, because I have yet to got to a precision shooting match. But I have seen tons of pictures of these matches and noticed that I only seem to see bolt guns in these pictures. Now I will also say I'm not hating on either system. I am a die...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 3-9 ring height for monolithic AR-15 rail?

I appreciate it guys! I'll look into these rings! If I had the extra dough laying around I'd certainly take it off your hands! But college expenses are killing me right now... Unless you'd be interested in a SWFA SSALT mount or a DPMS LoPro stripped upper. Ben

Rifle Scopes SWFA 3-9 ring height for monolithic AR-15 rail?

I have a POF USA rail on my AR I just built. I am planning on throwing my SWFA 3-9x42 on top of it. I want to keep it as low as possible to the rail because the buttstock is fairly low and I don't want to run into any cheek weld issues. So what are you guys running with this size optic? And yes...

Gunsmithing Designing a rifle chassis for Savage MKII

Not to down play the idea any but that mill seems a little small for the work you are wanting done. I have no doubt that it will do it, I just think you better take it slow. I'm not sure what kind of back ground you have but I would highly recommend taking a machining class at a Vo Tech or...

    Gunsmithing Time Lapse 223 Build

Awesome video! What lathe is that and how short of a barrel could you fit in between the chuck and the spider through the headstock? Thanks for posting this! Ben

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

That is a very good point, I do believe shot placement played a large role in most of those videos. I am still leaning towards the .223 at this time. Seems like in my current situation it is the winner. Although a .22-250, may be a future project. Ben

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

The Savage bolt head can be swapped very easily. I realize the bolt head is a different size, but I have that covered if need be. As to the short barrel, why not? Short barrel rifles are so much easier to maneuver. Especially in a deer stand or getting in and out of vehicles. I am not saying...

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

Gun is a Savage so new bolt head should be quite quite simple. Also I am the manufacture of the suppressor since it is a Form 1. That is my only concern with the .22-250 however is pressure on the can, since I only have 6.25" to play with.. Ben

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

Ugh I am still undecided... I like the extra power of the 250, but that will also be a negative on barrel life.. Although the odds of me shooting out a barrel are quite slim. I do think my suppressor would do better on the .223 as well. So many things to consider. Ben

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

Man I love y'all's videos very awesome work! I have patiently...oh what the hell ever...been awaiting that .300BLK video. I also know from your videos that the 250 would be fine in a shorter barrel. I will most likely never shoot at anything bigger than a woodchuck or something past 500yds, at...

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

I believe I will go with the .223 for this application. Got to looking for ammo and the .223 is much more plentiful and cheaper as well. I may very well have a .22-250 one of these days, but for now I'll go with the .223. For a 16.5" barrel what kind of twist would be the best? I'm not really...

    Hunting & Fishing .223 vs .22-250 for coyote/deer/hog?

Getting a bit of a wild hair and considering re-barreling my .308 to one of the calibers for hunting small to medium sized game. I have decided between the .223 and .22-250, Chad Dixon and the O'neil Ops crew have inspired me to build a rifle suited for this type of shooting. The barrel will be...

Suppressors .22LR/.223/.22-250 suppressor? Can it be done?

I would for sure do another Form 1 for a .30cal can. I was just hoping since the bore size is roughly the same for these calibers I could make one suppressor for the 3 hosts. I have seen your work, top notch for sure! Ben

Suppressors .22LR/.223/.22-250 suppressor? Can it be done?

Posted this on Silencertalk but figured I'd post it here as well.. I apologize if this has been asked already, but I couldn't find much on it. I have a Form 1 one the way and 6.25" to play with(originally just a .22lr suppressor). I got to thinking that I'd like to suppress my AR15 and my...
