    SAI 10 1-10

There is a lot of sample variation with diopter shift.

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

Couldn't agree more. I think I can do Wednesday or Thursday next week. I'll send you an email. ILya

    SAI 10 1-10

Diopter shift is a real thing with all FFP scopes. Riflescope testers we make measure it and there is a good amount of sample variation with all LPVOs I have looked at, even the very expensive ones. With higher power scopes people notice it less because the demands on the reticle are much less...

I am good to go ahead and call BS on this one. Everyone does during the development process

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

I did several comparisons over the years that I called "High End Tactical". First few were written only. More recent ones were a mix of written word, videos and livestreams. Generally, I like to do the wrap up on these as a livestream to be able to address questions in real time. The first...

    SAI 10 1-10

I looked at it at SHOT. Both elevation and windage are covered turrets. You can dial in a pinch, but it is really designed for holdign with the reticle. ILya

    SAI 10 1-10

"Test beyond what others do"? What is it that they do that others do not? When you say that you want SAI to to "up their stringency", what is that you think they do not do? ILya

    SAI 10 1-10

Armament guys generally know how to design and make a robust optic. However, until a good number of these make it out there we have no real idea. Chances are these will be as robust as anything else out there. SAI6 definitely holds up very nicely and I see no reason to expect SAI10 to be any...

    SAI 10 1-10

More light implies a larger objective lens diameter. While a few LPVOs out there do use 28mm objectives, most, whether 30mm or 34mm tube, stick with a 24mm objective. The rest is just successful marketing. ILya

    SAI 10 1-10

Some designs benefit from a larger tube and some do not. With SAI10, they were going for compact, so they stuck with a 30mm tube. I am somewhat agnostic of that, personally. The whole tube diameter thing became a big deal when some enterprising marketing types decided to capitalize on "bigger...

Scope advice for NRL22 competition rifle

Human perception is tricky. Things can look to be of different size when they really aren't. A good example of that is the way the moon looks. When it is low over the horizon, it looks larger than when it is right above your head. However, it is of the same exact size. With scopes have...

Scope advice for NRL22 competition rifle

I do not think I understand what the question is. 1 mrad is 1 mrad regardless of what magnification you are on.

Night Vision What’s going on with NVision?

There are a few around, but the price is not yet what you want for a commercial/civilian product. The best one I saw is not available to civilians at all. i3, on the other hand, sells them to civilians, but it is too expensive.

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

I'll watch the video when I have a chance. Looking at the picture... I have not tested the large eyepiece Kahles and I never had a DNT in that lineup (I do have one and like it, but it does not belong in that group). From that standpoint, I have never done anything quite like it. ILya

Night Vision What’s going on with NVision?

The way they approach having a clip-on work with high mag scopes is very innovative. I do not like to draw too many conclusions off of prototypes, so I am rather impatiently waiting until there is a production version to look at. What I saw at SHOT looked extremely promising. ILya

Night Vision What’s going on with NVision?

They showed a very clever clip-on during SHOT Show. I do not think it is available yet, but the early one they had looked pretty good. I am guessing they'll have it out and available sometime during the second half of the year.

SOLD Revic Acura 5-25x50 and Meopta Optika LR 10x42

Scopes in my safe are stacking up again and, as I go through and publish my reviews, some of them should really find a new home where they actually see some use. This time around, it is the Revic Acura 5-25x50. As I mentioned previously, I like the scope a lot, but it is in MOA, which is not my...
