Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

Hi, Yes, sorry, I was only talking about sight height affecting elevation - I tried to replicate their 7.62 numbers (see above) and never got that close before losing interest/motivation. I'm not that interested in windage - I don't have a huge wind problem, normally - will relook at it with...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

I understand that (unless you have wind and cant). Just pointing out (since you seem to be on a mission to recreate the Leupold numbers) that this is one factor (which makes quite a bit of difference) which seems as though it could be either: 1. Disagreeing with the Leupold number or 2)...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

What about sight height? Many ballistics programs default to 1.5" but it's commonly much more than this these days. It's 7.8 cm on my MR308 or almost three inches. Who knows what Leupold used, but likely much more than 1.5"? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Range Report Applied Ballistics app problem??????

I don't use this app, but you'll have to give us some screen shots to see what might be wrong. Case of "Garbage in - garbage out" maybe How do you "double check all data"? Give us some info and maybe we can spot it. What are you using for MV versus what friend uses? Two rifles might have...

Range Report Why not the 7-08?

In a word - fashion. If you looked back 15-20 years, the 7mm-08 was very much talked about, much like the 6/6.5's are today. That's when I had mine built (custom build on a Sako M591 action)

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

That's awesomely close... I haven't looked into the wind/spin drift - perhaps I should. I'll have a look at your spread-sheet in the next day or so and see if I can figure it out. I'm interested because I have the same scope for .308 (175 gn HPMK at 2575fps/785 ms) I also have it zeroed at 50...

    Varget Availibility?

I cannot get Varget, Retumbo, H1000 at all here in Switzerland. Annoys me when I know Australia is swimming in the stuff :-) Also 175 HPMK are out everywhere. They say might be back in stock in two months. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Kestrel 4500AB vs. FFS/Nomad 900

Played with the Leica 10x42 HD-B yesterday... Still not impressed with this unit. I could not get it to lase anything above 1180 meters in spite of 30 mins trying... This was mountains, rocks, trees, occasional buildings and lotsa snow. Not a bright day - should have been fairly good...

Projectile tarnishment after long storage duration

Gi'day Aussie, They will tarnish on exposure to several things, most likely to oxygen. Also moisture/oils from skin doesn't help. It's just a micro-layer of oxidised copper - no big deal. Only the top few layers tarnish, and this layer of tarnish seals and protects the underlying layers from...

    Kestrel 4500AB vs. FFS/Nomad 900

Hi, So far, I'm sold on the kestrel Horus and now the AB. Was using it yesterday out to 900-950 meter with 308 and 7mm-08 and have used it to 1400 with .338. Going longer a bit later in the year, which might stretch it, but fine for now. Get the AB with the profile loader (PC attachment)...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

Hi mil_coder, I have found out what was causing the issue with the profile loader - bug. Not sure it's always there, but it came up before and I thought it was due to a corrupted download of new firmware. The symptom was that the menu were very slow - like the unit was CPU bound. But it's to do...

    Labradar doppler chronograph

Couple of things, Firstly, you cannot just crank up the power. FCC regulations and all that. I actually wonder what band it's operating in and what the license conditions are? Secondly, the width of the beam. On top of the completely valid comments on error stacking, it's going to be very hard...
