Why Would Anyone Want to Shoot a Vintage Sniper Rifle?

I have a K31 (thing kicks worse than my .338LM) but my favorite is the M96 Swede. What a beautiful piece of steel and craftsmanship - and 110 years old. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Unexpected MV from longer barrel?

Yeah, Wow - that's a bunch. I agree - playing with Quickload for a few years - it's amazing what a difference in COAL and case capacity make (although it cannot model 'throat'). If you have confidence in your Chrony (as I said, I proved mine was junk) then it would be a fair assumption as the...

    Unexpected MV from longer barrel?

Hmmm, Well, I've not much experience with CFE223, but it looks slower than Varget, so I wouldn't expect the powder to be an issue. To me, there are three avenues for investigation: 1. The load and the pressure/velocity generated by the load 2. The differing friction in the barrel 3. The chony...

AX 308 MC or AX Magnum MC?

Certainly for a tactical rifle, have to agree. I have engaged torso sized targets at 1150 meters with a 308W, but it was completely ideal conditions: - 7000' up in a mountain pass - not a breath of wind - no light variability We knew we were on the ragged edge here and more good fortune than...

Hi, That URL (certainly for the non-Bluetooth) is wrong (extra bracket on end). But even when it's right, the ZIP archive seems corrupt. Later: now I see the URL is right, it was wrong in the email extract, but the archive still seems corrupted.

    Magnetospeed v2

Awesome piece of kit. Just get it and have no regrets. You should see the stupid results we have with chrony etc (temp dependent). Now whenever we shoot with new conditions (esp temp) we take round or two with the Magnetospeed attached and the ballistics solutions are spot on. You...

.308 medium range target/hunting bullet suggestion

I have to say I'm a fan of Ballistic tips. I've shot a very large number of (smallish to large) critters with them. All calibres from 224 to 308. They are accurate and kill like greased lightning. If you are talking .308, then the 125 is deadly on smaller game like goats, etc. 150 for...

    2014 AICS AX right folding?

Yes they do - it's so that I could make it through Australian customs... "The above information does not apply to category A and B firearms with the following characteristics: - is fitted, whether by original design or by modification, with a folding or detachable stock and capable of being...

Official Accuracy International AT First Look

I never said anything about 'dialing dope' - I was referring to closer in shooting with a fixed zero on the scope (I used to zero at 300+ meters and the target (from 10-400 meters) was frequently less than house brick in size). A cm or two makes little difference, but for me, the more it is...

For me, I found it makes the effects of cant worse the higher the sighting device is above the bore-line. Do a thought experiment: what if it was 12" high?? My experience is that it makes the closer shots easier as well, but YMMV

Yes I can :-) Although in one specific way - see my reply above

Rifle Scopes I need some direction on MILRAD vs MOA.

I still have a few MOA scopes left (converting to MILS over the last year or two) and I don't like any dopes in clicks - been burnt badly by that. All in full MOA + fractions now. And I have to say that fractions work pretty well for corrections. I naturally find myself dividing spaces into...

Sure Bryan - lucky barstards :) One more thing whilst I'm on a roll for you to have a look at later... The WEZ doesn't seem to reflect reality to me: I put in a .308 with a Nosler 125 gn BT at 1400 fps, and a 240 HPMK at 3500 (!) I got a WEZ of 42.6%, 8.5% and 1.3% at 1280 meters for both -...

Hi, There are still a couple of problems. 1. When you change from imperial-->metric, you still get the 'You must enter text with 5 or fewer characters' error in the calibre conversion. In my case, .308 becomes 0.7823 which is more than five digits. I'm not sure changing calibre to metric is...
