My new to me Accuracy International AE

Thanks for this James, very interesting: bringing the benchrest methods to bear. Nice five shot groups.

Kestrel, valuable tool or waste of money?

Hi, Just a quick clarification... Barometic pressure (more fully it's "mean sea-level barometric pressure") is corrected. It's what the weather person reads out. It's near 29.9" Hg, 1013.3 HPa, 14 psi. They obtain this by measuring the actual pressure is at a place and then calculating what...

    Binoculars/ The Snipers choice

Gi'day - getting antipodean in here... That Zeiss is a nice piece of kit, and a few around here have them, but we've settled on the Mark 4 - 20-40x60 as it's a fair bit cheaper than the Zeiss. Managed to get one for 40% of the cost of Zeiss. Front focal plane with Mil-dot as my spotter and I...

New TRG-22 and First Day Range Report

Spuhr looks ok. What about that Piccatinny rail - where did that come from? Ok - reread - from Sako. My Spuhr mounts directly onto the TRG mount without the Piccatinny rail. But is that P-rail too far forward? - does it have an engagement detent to mesh with the recoil lugs in the TRG...

    Best Chronograph for the $

Gi'day... Magnetospeed v2 is awesome. I can confirm POI changes when I've bothered to check. Even on a heavier barreled 700 PSS in .308W. I HAVE noticed that one model of chrony, in particular, gave wildly different results based on temperature. This was Varget powder, supposedly mostly...

Rifle Scopes What magnification scope to 1 mile?

From my humble experience... One thing you have to consider with magnification is whether you will have a spotter - and if you need to see your own bullet strike (you will always be doing corrections at that distance). Although I've got heaps of magnification on most of my LD scopes, I find...

    22-250 for f class match

Giggle... Been down the same path - years ago, I bought a Rem 700 VS (1-14") and when I'd put about 5K through it - realised I wanted (needed?) a new barrel. I wanted something heavier for distance and wind, but still wanted the speedy 50-55 gn BT's to do their thing... You know, compromise...

    Loads for 22-250 Rem

Agreed - I've loaded thousands of .22/250 - mostly with 50-55 gn Nosler BT's. 4064 is a royal pain - although a long drop tube helps considerably (seems to allow the sticks to 'disentangle') Most of my loads were ball powders if I could possibly help it - WW.

Confused on Varget load for 168 SMK Hodgdon vs Sierra

The source of Hodgdon data? The Hodgdon data (at least historically) seems to come from the Australian powder manufacturers (now owned by the French "Thales" group)... See here: ADI Powders Handloaders' Guide And it doesn't seem as 'lawyered up' as many other sources of data - so be cautious!
