    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

Perhaps I am putting my ignorance on display but think I am going to have to try this...shoot a group of 20 plus shots and find the center of that, and relocate that "center" to as close as I can get to my POA and call it zeroed. That way the dispersion cone should fall either in the zero or...

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

I havent actually tested in this format yet but I think it would be good to include a cold bore shot and even a clean cold bore shot in the test....

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

Thanks for the replies folks, I have chased my zero all over the place and it appears I may have been doing myself more harm than good. Just for some back story, I am running an Impact 737 with a Spuhr 4001, Vortex Razor Gen II in a McMillan A3-5(is not yet bedded in to the stock) chambered...

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

what do you fellas use for a protocol or a procedure to "prove" the rifle is established and doesnt shift? I am thinking a 2x2 piece of cardboard with like twenty five 1 inch dots on it and shoot one each time I go to the range, from prone. Keep track of time, date, wind and environmental...

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

I typically clean every 300 rounds or so. I fear carbon rings and things like that so I have found my guns tend to shoot better and more consistently than the old "let it go until accuracy falls off" method. Tried it what way and it didnt go well....

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

So that jives with what i was thinking. it is a 6BRA and it never really strays farther than .1 so seeing some small shift that can be chalked up to the other things you mention makes me feel more confident. I have been thinking about making a "zero log" target with multiple dots on it so i...

    Range Report Acceptable/normal zero variation

Hello, Just for curiosity sake, I am wondering what folks consider a "normal" amount of zero variation. By that I mean that I may have my rifle perfectly zeroed to knock the bullseye out of a target and then check zero at a match and see it be .10 or so high, low, or L/R. I know how a person...

    AB Doppler PDM

Hello, Recently I was fortunate enough to shoot a PRS match in WI where the folks from AB had their Doppler there to do PDMs for folks and I had mine done. It is for a 6BRA shooting a 105 hybrid at 2880(2860 by my V3). It left me wondering a few things. The tube had about 1900 rounds on it...

    6.5x47 vs 6x47 WTF?

To be honest, I did not do that as I had never even heard of the "leave the body a 6.5" thing until very recently. Now I am a bit concerned about that but the reamer was ordered in late January so its probably too late is my guess....

    6.5x47 vs 6x47 WTF?

I am on barrels 6 and 7 and every one of them after break in would run a 105 VLD or Hybrid over H4350 at speeds around 3000fps and produce sub half MOA fairly easily. Now, that said, I also seemed to have trouble with them being a bit erratic at times....the first 2 had .272 necks and the next...

    Rifle Scopes Bedding scope rings

Perfect...no bedding on the Spuhr.....thanks folks. As far as doing the rings, I am not talking about lapping them as in with a lapping bar but simply roughing up the lower ring halves to give the bedding compound something to stick to, some "traction" if you will. They are Seekins rings so I...

    Rifle Scopes Bedding scope rings

Hello, Just curious, is anyone finding it necessary or advantageous to bed a Spuhr mount. I am getting ready to be my scope into a set of Seekins rings(and have done so before) but was just curious. Also, do any of you that be rings rough up the bottom ring with sandpaper prior or no...

    Load Development brass

I guess I was thinking that being that it was an Impact action and the barrels are supposed to head space identically, and that it was the exact same reamer used by the same gunsmith on the same CNC program that it would produce nearly identical brass. Now it has me second guessing myself...
