Range Report .223 load development and velocity

COAL is 2.507. Bolt falls on a dummy round at 1.955-5 with the firing pin and ejector removed. (EDIT...not 15 thou off rifling as stated earlier but 5 thou off. It appears I have made a mistake. I tried to load at 1.950 BTO but when I measured just now it was at 1.960(which is a 10 thou jam...

    Load Development brass

The BRA fire forming loads seem to shoot extremely good IMO At 30.0 Gr of H4895 and a 105 hy, It runs .3 so that is all good. The actual BRA loads where shot using H4895 and 105 hybrids and loaded at 30.2/30.4/30.5(a suggested sweet spot for the BRA) 30.6/30.8 and 31.0(quit shooting these as...

    Load Development brass

Hello, I am getting ready to begin load development on both a 6.5x47L and a 6BRA and got to thinking about the brass used in either one. One is brand new factory Lapua in 6.5x47L and the other is brand new Lapua 6BR that has been fire formed with 30 grains of H4895(so is now once fired and...

    Bedding PRS stocks and chassis....

Hello, Just out of curiosity, what is everyones thoughts on bedding chassis, such as an MPA or a J Allen for PRS guns? How about stocks with mini chassis already installed like a Manners? I have noticed in a couple chassis that I have that when I tighten the front screw on my 700 clones, and...

    6x47 back up to 6.5x47

Hello, just curious if anyone has tried/done this successfully. I have a ton of 6x47(formerly 6.5x47) and I have just built my first 6.5x47 and was wondering if I can be necked back up to 6.5. I figured if I anneal it and lube it up and run it thru a 6.5x47 die with the expander ball in it...

Range Report How can a rifle shoot poorly at 100 but well at 1000?

Rifle was trued up by the smith and I paid for a custom PT and G bolt to be installed so either way. Tube is a cut rifle tube from a Wisconsin manufacturer considered one of the best in PRS circles.....but hell, anyone can end up having a marginal one get by....hell, who knows. I am just...

Range Report How can a rifle shoot poorly at 100 but well at 1000?

I have tried 75 ELDMs, 88 ELDMs and 80 gr berger VLDs with H4350 and H4831 so far....with minimal positive results. I did just get 4 lbs of RL 26 and some 80.5 gr fullbores as well as some 77 TMKs. I have been in touch with the smith and it was he who advised me to try the load development...
