    Just curious if it was the old wolf match or the new stuff? The new is in a plastic box. I have the B14R steel I bought the first of last year and have a 5-25 Strike Eagle on it.     Here are my results. I will say that at 100 and beyond the CCI doesn't hang in there with the match ammo from my experience, I try to use it for up close or plinking steel only.

    I like a similar method of using 50 ftlbs, then drill and pin the receiver to barrel, after that you weld over the pin to ensure it stays put.

    That's definitely odd then, most guys use 35 to 50 ft lbs on savage barrel nuts.

    Probably had to do more with not having a good shoulder square to threads or the nut may have had some thread to shoulder issue in my opinion. Was it on a untrue factory receiver by chance?

    It's where you go all the way against the shoulder, back it off just a little, and quickly twist it back tight allowing momentum to give it a little extra torque. That's how I put my can on my rifle so I don't have to worry about checking to see if it's coming loose.

    I use 50 ft lbs with a torque wrench. I have heard of benchrest guys going hand tight, but they shoulder it up then back it off to snap it on I think. From what I understand this requires a barrel vise and wrench to remove still.

    Sammi is .183 and works well with the 108ELDs but is pretty long for the 110SMK. Which is backwards of what you were told it seems from Northland. It helps to know what specific bullet you want to use to help decide your throat.
