Guys and gals its about that time of year, please post some photos of where you hunt because I'm ready to go hunting.
I'll start
Middle of West Virginia at our deer lease, I took this picture about 30 yards from where I killed my first bowhunting deer last year. Beautiful area IMHO.

ooohhhhhhhhhh, sorry I couldn't talk today was picking up/loading the other part of my new hunting accessories. Yamaha Grizzly 700 camo
hunting spot, I'm taking this shot from other part of hunting spot and that river gets crossed a lot.

Does your 338 can have the 90 tooth mount? If it does how's the repeatability when taking it on and off and does it stay tight? I've shot some wild boar with 85 gr tsx out of 243 it would amuse me to do the same with .338 160 gr tsx. Those pesky bears on my farm might also be a good...
How short of a barrel could you run and still have an efficient powder burn? Interesting project and one I've thought about just never seen anyone with suppressed 338 Federal.
For a first suppressor I say go for the longer and quieter can. Play with it for awhile and see what you like and dislike and then decide if a smaller/louder but handier can will fill any voids in your needs. I have a lot of suppressors from big to small but I use them for different tasks.
