    Which rifle?

I'd buy a used (GAP, Surgeon, APA, AO, or any other sight sponsor) from the classifieds and look at the 6 or 6.5mm calibers, especially if you hand load. Nothing against a 308, I love mine, but there are better calibers out there for long range shooting.

Triad Tactical - Superb Customer Service

There is something about the Hide that attracts good vendors with old fashioned customer service. Triad is excellent to deal with.

My F-TR Rig is done! pic heavy

I didn't see the original post before it was edited. I'll check the 185s out, I'll be shooting them out of a 1/10 twist Bartlein.

My F-TR Rig is done! pic heavy

I agree wholeheartedly with Jackcrow73. Good shooting, I'd like to try the 185s some time.

    What are you reading?

I'm surprised I haven't seen mentioned any of Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series books, very interesting fiction stuff. I recommend reading the series in order, but it's not necessary. Keeping on the fiction side, I love anything by John Grisham, as liberal as he may be.

Are you guys going to have a handgun stage mixed in as well?

Recommend a good gunsmith in SoCal

I hear you, Randy will take care of you. Call him before you order, he may have something in stock already, or at the very least will be able to point you in the right direction.

Where to Buy AW-338 in FDE?

Have you tried EuroOptic? They're an excellent company to deal with. Also, I've heard nothing but good things about Mile High Shooting. The AW isn't being made anymore. I know I'm keeping mine, but I suspect as the AT and AXMC start hitting the market, you'll see more AWs show up here in the...

WTT Snow and Ice for Sunshine and Warm Breezes

FN in MT; I feel for ya. I have about a 5 mph wind here which is bringing the temperature with the wind chill factor to about 72 degrees. Looks like I'm shooting in tactical flip flops today.

    Safe purchase

It's risky. I've had nothing but good luck here, knock on wood. You can always search their past for sale threads and see how they went. A phone call goes a long way as well.

Newbie looking for adivce for rifle purchase

I recommend before you make a purchase, continue reading here. There's a lot of experience, I know I learn a lot every time I'm on here. Also, window shop in the classifieds here. It'll give you a good idea on what stuff is going for and is an excellent source for finding good deals. If you can...

Steel targets that can handle the big sticks?

Get some 3/4" AR500 from JC Targets or Big Dog Steel. The 3/4" will last a while, even at 100 yards. And both those vendors are hide sponsors and a pleasure to do business with.

    Anyone got $17,000 for a Remington 700 M24E1 XM2010?

I guess I should specify that my above comment was said tongue in cheek. I wasn't cereal.

    Anyone got $17,000 for a Remington 700 M24E1 XM2010?

That drained feeling will go away when you realize you have 4 5 round magazines and a 1 MOA rifle.

    Keeping ammo on the rifle.

I second the Triad stock pack. It fits nicely on the A5 and provided a comfortable cheek rest while holding loose rounds. You'll be happy with it.

Caliber selection for a 1600m+ rifle

300 wm would get you there, and not hurt your wallet like a 338 LM or a 375. I think for a mile and under, the 300 is a very capable round. We have a lot of talented ELR shooters here, they'll chime in and steer you in the right direction.
