    Stock to chassis and back?

I have tried chassis several times, they look cool and can easily convert a rifle to mag fed, but in the end was not suited for the type of shooting I do. Just a bit heavy and clunky for me. I like the feel and balance of a good McMillan or even BC stock.

Hunting & Fishing Traditional hunting rifle stocks versus

I like a traditional stock, a Tikka in a McMilan edge or Tikka CTR in a BC sporter. Offhand, seated or prone no worries.

Tikka CTR vs Superlite (Practice/Volume Gun & Hunting Rifle)

I have gone through many packs, slings etc. For the terrain that I hunt I need two hands to travers the inclines. The Vorn it just the right size for me and my minimalistic load out. I like that I can just grab the barrel and retrieve the rifle from the side; rather than try to pull it up and...

Tikka CTR vs Superlite (Practice/Volume Gun & Hunting Rifle)

I used a butane torch, just remove the action from the stock and gently heat the rail up and down until the screws loosen. If you try without heat the heads will strip for sure. mine weighs in at 7lbs 3 oz without scope or can. I hunt some pretty thick and steep mountains. I use a Vorn pack...

Tikka CTR vs Superlite (Practice/Volume Gun & Hunting Rifle)

Get a CTR and drop it in a regular B&C stock or any other tikka stock. A little of inletting with a socket and emory cloth and you will be good to go. My rifle is a true do-all and only weighs a bit over 7 lbs without the supressor and with a Leupold 2-7 on it. I ditched the rail and use Talley...

Rifle Scopes Tikka Scope Ring Advice

I have used pretty much all of those rings. Nothing wrong with them at all. DNZ work but are kinds chunky for a lightweight one piece. Chunky meaning the ring itself is like a frickin doughnut around the scope body. The Talley lite will do the trick...

    tikka t3 v t3x recoil; threading/brake

There are a few threads regarding threading the T3's/ T3x and the consensus is there is not enough meat on a t3/x sporter barrel to thread for a 30 cal. Even if you chop it down (which will decrease velocity etc), still not enough. I have both 300WM and 7 rem mag . I have found the limbsaver...

    chassis? stock? differences?

Grips and such are more utilitarian than looks. If you will be shooting more from the prone position, then a pistol style grip may be more ergonomic. A chassis is exactly what it sounds like. it is a frame that will accept the receiver and most if not all, will be cut to accept detachable...

Hunting & Fishing Muzzle loader fluke?

Might want to experiment with some plywood and gallon jugs of water, but I think the SSt performed as it should. Penetrate and expand for good shock. most guys dont like the sst in centerfire because they pretty much explode when they hit bone. If your bullet went in and stayed, then all of the...

Hunting & Fishing Muzzle loader fluke?

I have not used the SST ML but they are designed for rapid expansion. Your load is approx 1900 fps and 2k foot pounds at the muzzle . 1540/1300 at 100Y. Punching through a boney cavity, it might have just lodged against the back of the skull. I would not have an issue using this load on deer out...

    Tikka T3 Thread

Same action as stated, the CTR comes with a rail and has extra holes on the top of the receiver for drive pins that help secure the rail. No need though, any aftermarket rail or even a takeoff rail should do fine with the correct scope. Honestly, the CTR shoots great out of the box, you can...

Tikka CTR owners upgrades and ammo questions

Newbie to long range or rifles in general. If so I would not jack with the trigger other than just factory adjusting. If you back out the tension screw until it touches the trigger mounting bolt, that will be good to get started. Use the extra money to buy a case of Prime 130's and get out and...

    Lapping scope rings question

As mentioned above, some of the higher quality rings can be had for under $100, BTW if you hose up the lapping you can end up scoring a mating surface into your scope body. I say dont do it, unless you are having a competent smith doing a project rifle for you.

Hunting & Fishing what garmin are you using.

Hunt CO 25 and 26 every year. I have used many various models of Garmin, they have advantages, but even the lower level etrex will grab a signal and get you back to base camp. The touch models are garbage, most other will require you to pay extra for the 24K maps, as they come with the 100k maps...

Hunting & Fishing Your “go to” hunting rifle?

Goto would be my Tikka T3x CTR in .260 with AAC Cyclone. Taken plenty of deer and antelope with this one. Off the shelf Prime 130's, or some 136 scenars over imr4350. Never had to track an animal after.

    Build or buy ?

The thing about the SPS is that you will not lose any money on it if you do not sell it. If it were me Id oil the hell out of it, drop it in a poly gun bag and tuck it somewhere dry and cool and forget about it. As for the Tac 1, I do love a Tikka, i do not however like being married to one...
