Sidearms & Scatterguns Precision Slug Gun Options

200 yards with a slug of either gauge won't happen unless you like to miss or maim. 150 is a stretch. 100 is comfortable and less is better. The Savage is probably the best bang for the buck. Get a scope with as much eye relief as you can find. Maybe even a scout style scope.

Help with first tripod (manfrotto vs leofoto)

The only justification for a 4 leg CF tripod is if you hike with it. A 3 leg aluminum will typically be stiffer than a 4 leg CF and not much heavier or longer. I once had a RRS CF tripod and Monopod and they were first class for camera work but less expensive Manfrotto and even Vangard did the...

    Newbie needs direction.

Does the barrel have sights on it? If so do you want to keep them? If you want it to look original a new barrel will get complicated. Are you using the original scope? Crown good?

Gunsmithing Bartlein 400 moddb barrels (Gunsmiths)

The guy who wanted $200 more probably didn't have a reamer either. I cannot imagine the line of people wanting a 375 Enabler is very long.

    Gunsmithing .22LR Chamber hone?

I have never seen a 22 pistol that wasn't a blowback action. The bullet is gone and pressure dropped before the bolt moves a fraction of an inch. Inertia drives the bolt not gas pressure. Minor scratches in the chamber don't have any bite on the cartridge case during extraction. I would trouble...

Gunsmithing Vaquero fixable or paperweight ?

Because the OP and half the other people here are ate up with the dumb ass. That's what you get when you ask a dumb question of a bunch of dumb people.

Gunsmithing Vaquero fixable or paperweight ?

What did you try do? Drill it out. I still say a recessed crown would be the cost effective way to salvage it. Contact Chad. He probably do it without taking the barrel out of the frame.

Gunsmithing Vaquero fixable or paperweight ?

What does a job like that cost?? Tell us the truth if you can. Talk about throwing good money after bad.

Gunsmithing Vaquero fixable or paperweight ?

If you cut it down below about 4 5/8" the ejector rod housing will be longer than the barrel. Recessed crowns are nothing new. A prominent rimfire smith does it on hammer forged barrels after threading for a muzzle device. The only downside is probably having to have a tool ground to do it.

Gunsmithing Vaquero fixable or paperweight ?

I know what I would do... Do a recessed crown an inch and a half deep and call it a day. No need to fool with the sight work.

What pistol??? Exactly what is it doing?

Gunsmithing LRI bolt fluting job. Opinions wanted.

The bolts in the pictures are apple and orange comparisons to me. The flutes in the first picture are either deeper or cut with a larger diameter tool than the first bolt. Look at the flats between the flutes. Little to none in the first picture. Chad is a smart guy but he still has to turn a...

Nothing wrong with 14 1/2 if you are committed to the build.

    Gunsmithing New AR build issues

If your measurements are accurate you couldn't get the GB on the barrel. They are NOT accurate! You have a set screw GB. Don't worry about the leak. If you shoot it enough it will seal itself. Things like this happen when you put unproven game gun shit in a rifle.

    Gunsmithing Building first AR15

Depends on what you want to do with the rifle. IMO there is no reason acceptical to me to use a 14 1/2" barrel over a 16. An inch isn't worth the handicap to me. What twist is your barrel? What ammo will you shoot? What accuracy do you expect. Who made the barrel.

Gunsmithing Anyone here who can EDM holes into a barrel?

I see... One thing for sure... They didn't have EDM back then.
