    Private party NFA transfers

This is regarding in-state NFA transfers (Arizona). I know that technically all you have to do to do for a private party transfer is a form 4. The issue is that you are stuck in a limbo state where for a year the seller has both the item and the money or the seller has to trust a stranger will...

    Changing combo on AMSEC safe

I have an AMSEC safe with mechanical dial. I've changed the code on my s&g dial (6730) before and have a change key (U8) for it. Does anyone know if it is the same change key for AMSEC safes and if I could follow the same processes? Or is it different?

    Drilling through back of safe

Well, it's all done and house is still in tact! Unfortunately I could only do about 2 inches and not the recommended 2.5". Since I added a wood frame underneath like recommended, the screws were just not long enough in 3/8" to do any more than 2". This thing is going NOWHERE though. I was...

    Drilling through back of safe

I would happily pay someone a small fee to stop by and mark things. But a quick preliminary search made me think it's not 'cheap' and likely 500+ just to get anyone out. If anyone knows someone in the Phx area with the equipment, I would happily do it right.

    Drilling through back of safe

I've noticed there are 2 different type of concrete drill bits avaiable at Home Depot. There are ones for concrete and ones for concrete and rebar. I bought the concrete/rebar one since it was barely more expensive and figured it will be more sturdy. Thinking about it now though, should I use...

Hmmmm, thats interesting. Thanks for the lesson on minimum embedment! I did not realize that.

    Withstanding the heat?

I'm guessing the most vulnerable material on a gun in the heat is rubber. The only thing that comes to mind is orings and gaskets in scopes. No one has had issues there right? I know I'm asking a similar thing but in a different way. I'm just trying to cover all my bases before risking very...

    Mild steel past 1000?

Yea, definitely can't use it at 1k, but 1760 and it should not go through..... I haven't read the thread, but the chart link you put in doesn't seem correct. For all practical purposes, you do not need larger than 3/8 AR500 for 338lm and according to that chart you would need 5/8" for...

    Mild steel past 1000?

The 375 cheytac may be an issue as I THINK that's what caused the holes in my buddies 3/8 mild steel. I think one of the big issues is some of the rounds are solids that really pack a punch. It sounds like everything else, at ~50 rounds a year, you can CONFIDENTLY use 3/8 mild steel (at a mile...

    Withstanding the heat?

Thanks for the advice guys. Honestly, I haven't had any plastics or rubber issues in the decade or so that I've lived here. Thats on things out of the sun, obviously anything in the sun becomes TOAST within a few short years ha. So it sounds like out of those guys that hold rifles/gun in a...

    Withstanding the heat?

Not really sure where to put this thread, but since my bolt actions are my most prized firearms, I figured here is good as any! Plus, my precision bolt rifles are also the firearms where imperfections would end up mattering the most. Outside of the added theft risk, is there anything to worry...

    Mild steel past 1000?

How often do you think it will be hit, how long do you want it to last, and what calibers? 50cal will melt thru the mild steel at most practical ranges, so if you allow 50cal, mild steel is mostly out of the question. I have 3/8 ar400 at 1400 yards and my 338 hasn't done any damage to it at...

What scope is everyone running for elr

I've been out of the game for a while, but I am shocked that barely anyone mentioned the s&b 5-25. It used to be the golden standard and previously would be half the peoples answer. Does it not hold up to the new competitors anymore or is it more of a "people love trying out new brands" thing ...

    Drilling through back of safe

OK guys, the time is coming up and my wife is not too happy about me drilling into the concrete. I would be most confident if I didn't have to drill more than 1.25" into the concrete. That gives me alot of room past my measured cable/tendon depth. Looking at 3/8" diameter minimum embedment...

    Room needed behind safe

Call and speak to the company?! My generation doesn't know how to do this! Haha. But you are probably right, this would have been a good option. To be fair, it was the weekend and they were likely closed.

But I'm guessing a little bit still sticks out and regardless the wire has to go somewhere?

    Room needed behind safe

Let me clarify. The power outlet is not behind the safe, however as far as I remember, the outlet going FROM the safe is in the back. So you need to plug one side of the power cable into the back and that is what requires the space. Unless I'm missing something?

    Room needed behind safe

I am Installing an amsec bf7250 soon and I can't find any information on the room needed behind the safe if you want to plug the power cord up to it. You would think there would be even 1 picture or video somewhere on the internet that showed the back of the safe (or even any other safe in the...

I got pressure treated 2x4's to build a frame and some composite shims. Will see how it goes!
