    How accurate are ballistic calculators?

Shooting position variances and range variance as described above is what I would say. Quick look at a table, and roughly if the 100 yard target was 90 and the 200 yard target was 240 that would produce the difference you're seeing. Applied ballistics is usually fairly accurate to start, seems...

    Seating Hornady 135 atip

Initial test for me is nothing scientific. Take the stem out of the die, put a bullet into it, see how much movement there is side to side. Rinse and repeat with a couple different makes/models of bullets and youll feel a difference. Also can check a circular mark on the top part of the bullet...

    Seating Hornady 135 atip

Im using the Redding micrometer seater the VLD stem fits the 135 A tip really well. Very low runnout. Almost none, maybe 0.0005. The standard stem that comes with the die didnt fit them well. So no, get the VLD stem and youll be good.

6.5 Creedmoor and RL16. Holy Crap!

43.1 gr RL16 with 135 Atip @2820 and 24" barrel. 75 degrees. SD @ 5 for 5 shots. Groups as good as I can shoot. No pressure signs, went faster up to 43.4, then SDs and groups went to shit.

PRS Talk Can we stop shooting offhand in PRS?

Shot a couple BWRS matches at Rush Lake Range, 2 had offhand stages and as much as I loathe those stages I liked how it was planned. First was full size IPSC at 150, one hit to move on. Then smaller targets at distance and prone for the rest of the stage. Other was a bigger pig target at...

Load Development: Bench or Prone, Bipod, rest, or Bag

Prone, bipod, rear bag. I use the wiebad tac pad? (i think its called, been years since i bought it) early on I wasnt as steady with it, but over time its improved a bunch and is good practice for field shooting prone.

Recoil Management With Ski Feet Bipod (Phoenix Bipod)

Without seeing, Id say body position. I load into the bi pod so if I let my arms go it stays in the same spot.

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Able to finally post pictures of an AI I own. AI AT 6.5 CM, 24" threaded. Shooting factory Hornandy 140 ELD M. Velocity 2620 fps, SD 24. Hammer at 100 yards. About 2.25 in spread at 545. Overall first impressions is I like the grip and trigger more than I thought I would. Bolt is MUCH clunkier...

    Does concentricity matter?

I saw that posted before here about floating with an o-ring. Is it hard to keep the loaded length consistent with that? Or are you talking using a press like a co-ax?

    Does concentricity matter?

Thanks for the feedback. For now I'm going to load and shoot as is. Seems like there is some correlation between accuracy and concentricity but with a diminishing return. Has anyone measured the difference between say a redding competition seater vs forester vs lee hand die?

    Does concentricity matter?

Is there a benchmark on what is good or not good for a concentricity value to obtain a practical level of accuracy? I'm measuring about 0.0015" TIR on the neck after sizing and 0.004" on the bullet after seating. Does anyone pay any attention to concentricity when loading for PRS/NRL style of...

Rifle Scopes Lightweight, 30mm tube hunting scope options

On a 9-12 X high end I wouldn't overlook SFP for hunting. I personally like the thicker reticle early and late light with illumination when possible. Personally have never held over or for windage on anything but max on a 3-9 scope. Seems like the leupolds give up some clarity at same price...

    Suggestions for new build .223

Lots of good factory actions. Savage, Tikka, Howa, etc. Worked up some very accurate 40 gr loads with 1:8 and 1:9 twists. Really don't see the need for slower twist?
