300 Win Mag - Magwell lengths

Figured the reloading page was the best spot since I will be reloading this round. If I am using one of the 210-230 gr bullets, is it worth getting the CIP magwell for 3.850" mags or will the standard 3.715" magwells for 300 WM suffice? since I am still in the early stages of the build, I want...

Range Report Opinions appreciated on OCW test. 147gr/Peterson/H4350

I would say get some velocities at 42.4 and verify that it was truly a flier. Read the numbers and if they are a below 10 on the SD, you are good to go. adjust seating depth to tighten up the groups if needed.

So I have a stupid question.

I am running a Vltor stock and it will do it every so often. the only ones that hurt are the mustache hairs right under the nose. I could get kick a baby they hurt so bad. the other hairs don't hurt at all. once your stock claims enough hairs, those hairs will provide cushion and protection.

Help me upgrade a savage model 16 hunting rifle.

Go to northland shooters supply, they stock criterion and Shillen barrels plus they have all the tools to set the head space yourself. they also carry the precision recoil lug and barrel nut. I have a Shillen from them and its ok. I would go Criterion if it was my choice. bell and Carlson on...

    Gunsmithing Grovtec Flush Cup Install

I am going to try my hand at installing a Grovtec Flush Cup into a B&C stock this afternoon. I cannot find a tap anywhere in san Antonio that has a 9/16" tap. My question is, can I use the threads on the cup itself to tap into the stock? I know it is not professional but will it work? I will...

    How many different bullets?

If you are a tinker type personality then you would probably enjoy loading different bullets and powders and primers etc. so I would say go for it. I have read some people pick one thing, it shoots an inch, they call it good and that's it. I personally do what graham said, I pick the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns A woman was murdered in her apt close to where we live. We currently don't own any EDC equipment and would like advice -concerned about wife's safety

Just my .02 cents. I will start with she needs to get a LTC license but until then the below will help. If she is only going to carry in her car then you don't need a license. she can conceal carry it in her purse as she walks to and from her place of residence. My ex-wife worked at the...

Range Report Anyone try the Hornady 143 ELD-X

My 260 loves the 143's. I run them at 2975fps and get 1/2" -3/4" groups. I did drop a pig at 300 and never moved. I have one round for steel and one for hunting. im always prepared.

    Gunsmithing Polishing Raceways

I tried looking for something on this but haven't found anything. so this either means, not worth it or not recommended. Do any of yall polish the bolt raceways in the action? I have a savage model 10 and just curious if it will smooth it out a little bit. Nothing severe, works great. Just...

Hunting & Fishing Hog barrel feeders

My unedumakated suggestion would be to not run a lot of corn through the deer feeder. kind of short them so they look for another food source (the barrel) instead of them filling up on whats being thrown on the ground and easily accessible.

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Thanks. I love it. I have not bedded it since it shoots great out of the box. I do like the adjustability to it since I don't fit most stocks.

    Reloading bench recommendations

So I went a different route. I have some broken pallets laying around at work that would have gone in the trash that I used. all I had to purchase was screws and some furniture protectors so it didn't scratch the wood floors. I am only about $10 invested. Still thinking of putting it on some...

    Reloading bench recommendations

That is my only worry. I am going to use 1x4's to make it and double up where the press is with extra support braces under it so I am hoping the weight will get distributed over the length of the bench so it does not cause too much damage. either way, its all fixable.
