    This has never been my experience. I always need less torque to remove the bolt than when it was torqued. It has literally never been more. Maybe if there are tapered interfaces?

    I just use my cell phone and a levelling app. Accurate to within a tenth of a degree. Plenty fine for my NX8 on an SBR. Take it out of the case, true it to the rail, then put the scope in the rings and the phone on the top turret and true it to what the rail is at and bolt it down with the phone...

    I like my nx8, but really, this goes for all Nightforce optics I've had. They are, optically, "serviceable", but where my real appreciation is, is that I can count on them. They dial true and retain zero. There's a lot to be said in being able to rely, whether it be on people, processes, or things.

    ...and yet, I have performed a T&E with almost half a dozen failure aspects in a few hours, as a filthy casual. So forgive me for wondering if $2500 is all for ATAK software. I know the eCOTI is much more environmentally sealed, but am curious about the rest.
