    Training Courses Long Range Houston

As far as I know that is all you have, I am not a big fan of "ASC", the people that work the range have rubbed me the wrong way too many times. I usually drive from Sugar Land to Elcampo for shooting ( private). If you find anything that isn't that place please PM me, I would love to have the...

Here to learn and get advice.

Welcome aboard, it really depends on what you are wanting to do with the rifle. I for one shoot a 308, had a 26" barrel but i also hunt with it so I shortened it to 22". YMMV. I also run a suppressor it gets long and heavy in the brush with 26" plus a can. The info on here is fantastic.

    Ready to start loading

Downtown has it right, from what I have seen most people run a Dillon. Being an engineer myself, I require +- 0.001 OAL and +-0.01 grn charges on all of my rifle rounds. It’s ridiculous but I never said I wasn’t. I for one like having my systems separated but YMMV. If you are of the 1 tool for...

    Ready to start loading

I have the hornady, she needs a bit of a tougher hand to cycle than I was comfortable with for loading precision. I know there are fixes for that issue, but for pistol it doesn’t bother me, I prefer to load my precision and subs on the single stage. I can run about 450 an hour in pistol.

    7.62 rifle advice

One thing people don't think about, the Larue rifles are guaranteed under 1 moa for the LIFE OF THE RIFLE. I have a buddy who is SWAT, runs the Costa from larue for work, when his barrel wore out ( 8k rds) it was replaced, no questions asked. You get what you pay for. I know they are expensive...

    Ready to start loading

That would be my recommendation, this rabbit hole you are peering into is long and dark. The most improvement that i made in my reloading (convenience and speed) was the RCBS ChargeMaster, while it isn't perfect, its fast enough for me.

    Ready to start loading

I reload he same calibers as you, I would start with a single stage press, BUY A GOOD POWDER SCALE/THROWER. Once you have it down and are sure that it’s for you, pick up a progressive. It takes a lot of time to get into it, and a shit load of room. Also, spend money on calipers and the measuring...

Gunsmithing Carbon Fiber Rifle Stock Tooling?

What these gents are saying is all true, seems like all three of us have an idea what you are getting into. That being said, I for one am not trying to steer you away from it, just wanting you to have the information to make he correct decision. Like MCameron said, feel free to PM me also...

Gunsmithing Carbon Fiber Rifle Stock Tooling?

While I cannot comment on anything about carbon fiber. I work as an engineer and can tell you a few things about design software. The big 3 here in the oilfield are as follows Solid Works Autodesk Inventor Creo (Pro E) They all have their strengths and weaknesses, I believe that the autodesk...

    Precision hunting round

I run a 22" 308 loaded with the 178 ELD-X at around 2650FPS( You can probably get the same results with the hornady superformance). Seems to do its job on hogs out to the distances you are talking about. Once the shooting stand is up I will report on 350 and 600 yds.

    pistons and suppressors..........

From what I have seen on my suppressed weapons ( 30 cal all subs) it is 6 one way half a dozen the other. Now full auto fire ( suppressed) with a DI can be painful on the eyes, the gas can be overwhelming at times, the piston does help alleviate that some. YMMV

Hunting & Fishing Factory .45 ACP ammo suggestions for hog hunt

I speak from experience, if you aren’t shooting a light fast bullet, you have to be damn close to penitrate. Be ever so careful I have skipped them off of heads if the boar was 250 +. I typically carry a 9 now for that reason, last time I cape upon a big pig down here in south Texas, if it...

Hunting & Fishing What is your go to knife in the field?

I carry two, may seem a bit of overkill but I have been saved in the past. KABAR in the boot (marine spec) Adonis on the belt. I’ve killed as many hogs with the KABAR as my sidearm.
