New to reloading, choosing a press

Dillon 550 for the manual advance. Just my preference. I load all my ammo from .223 through 338 LM. For precision just remember David G Tubb and John Widden load their ammo on a Dillon 550.

Advanced Marksmanship Anyone else good at positional but bomb prone stages?

Had a similar issue. When positional shooting got better, prone suffered. Lack of practices caused me to start excessively loading the bipod for stability. I was also rushing to get in to the prone due to lack of practice. So I started adding the attached drill to my practice sessions. I agree...

New to reloading 338 Lapua, but not new to reloading questions.

One tool head, start to finish, powder measuring on a V3 autotrickler. I experimented with the 2 tool head method where you prep brass with one toolhead and then load with another. Kinda defeated the purpose of the progressive press to me. To each their own so no issue with those that do it...

New to reloading 338 Lapua, but not new to reloading questions.

I load for my 338LM improved and 338 LM on a Dillon 550. FL sizer station 1, expander mandrel station 2, powder dump station 3, bullet seater station 4. Widden Gunworks custom FL dies with seater. No bushing dies for me. 250 Lapua Scenars and 250 SMKs for bullets Retumbo and H1000 for powder...

    Upper Receiver Lapping

Years ago we did this, still have the tool some where. Once I started experiencing comparing receivers that were lapped vs unlapped I stop doing it. Never had one so out that it effected headspace. Never took much more than a few rounds to show even. That’s all your going for. Even wear mark...

    Powder selection/ availability for 7mm and 338lm

4350 for the 7mm Rem Mag VV N560, N565, N570 are the only temp stable powders I've found readily available. Prior to that H1000 Retumbo

    Rebuilding my position

5'10" 230 powerlifter no 6 pack but no love handles or gut. Here is the issues your having per my experience. 1) You have no neck if your that size and lifitng real weights. It drastically changes your bipod and rear bag height compared to average and small people. If your trying to lay as low...

    Substitute for varget

8208XBR gets 2720 with 175SMKs in a 24” barrel. More than accurate enough for PRC/NRL/hunting. Benchmark if speed is less of a concern and precision the top priority. Both are more temp stable than 4064 per my requirements. Both meter like a dream. Year long shooter in Texas. Tried Varget...

    Gunsmithing McGowan barrels

Is it a custom chamber as well. Bullets out of the body/shoulder junction? Mag feed-able? Velocity? Very interested in your project.

1-7 twist 25-06? Please explain. Big 25-06 fan, and fast twist believer. But that's one I would have never though of.

Range Report 338 LM Factory Ammo

No specific recommendation, Google should return multiple options. Just seems like a better option for you. All it will cost you is time collecting you brass and mailing it back to the loader.

Range Report 338 LM Factory Ammo

Thought about one of the small ammo makers building you a custom load? If you send the brass back it should save to a pile of money without you having it reload. The factory 338LM ammo is like all factory ammo, severely knee capped in performance. Also the 338LM is one of a few cartridges that...

    Happy Birthday Marines

“God made Christmas so lesser people could get a taste of what today means for use.” Me 2019 It sure as hell wasn’t Disney Land everyday, but we were conceived in a bar so what do you expect. “Not as lean, not as mean, but still a Marine!” If you see this bumper sticker on a vehicle today...

    Colt Competition - Bold Ideas?

They were made in Breckinridge Tx just up the road from me. 99% outsourced parts from every manufacturing known to man. Colt on the rifle was solely a license issue. Some had overrun receivers from the Law enforcement line of ARs. I had several of them come in. All shot exceptionally well with...

338 lapua vs 338 AI... need educated opinions!

I have both a standard 338LM and a 338 LM Improved. Remember, just because it can go faster does not mean the accurate load will be found there. On the other hand I’ll never do a standard 338LM again. Improving the shoulder eliminates case growth after the 2-3 firing. Not so with the standard...
