    7mm choice in an SA - 7-08, 708AI, or 284 ???

Although a hardcore 6.5 fan, this project will be a dedicated 7mm SA build so no need debating using a long action for a 284. Below has been decided: Action - will be a Borden Alpine SA in .473 face Barrel will be 20-21" Light Palma or Varmint/Sendero Contour, OR a 22-23" in a #3 Sporter...

.260 Rem Match ammo from Federal.

Any updates? Seems Federal is shooting themselves in the foot with their pricing, as it seems the Creedmoor has been leading new builds from what I gather.

Hunting & Fishing My biggest hog yet and a head shot doe.

One day I hope to use a can and hear the thump, if LA will get their head out the sand. Good shooting Drew! Congrats on the hunt, and the nice kill stick.

New 6MMBR build just completed!!! Groups pics added

Last group I shot, at the 330 yd target, was under .5", not moa, half inch. Ruger #1, Pac-Nor 3groove 8t, w/Kepplinger trigger, using 28.5 Varget 105 Amax

Which is best..........Brux, Rock, or Krieger?

Chuck, no doubt if all else is equal w/specs, chambering, etc. etc. then the bbl might be the issue.

    Muzzle blast in a 20" - 260 vs 6.5x47, anyone?

Frank, lower decibels is always nice to my tinnitus, have had a desire to build a 47 since intro'd at the Shot show years back....I may be wrong, but my Creedmoor seems tame in a 24" sporter, it might have a tad less bark than the 260s I have run, just none side by side to compare right now...

Which is best..........Brux, Rock, or Krieger?

What isolates the problem to to the barrel as to being finicky, considering how many variables are at play?

Which is best..........Brux, Rock, or Krieger?

Many good options on makers, I run Bartlein where possible. That said, unless you have a reason to shoot a 308, go with a 6.5 aka x47 Lapua, Creedmoor, or 260 and you will likely see better results, than what brand 308 bbl you run. Just my .02, a 6.5 guy who has yet to own a 308, and just...

The great 6.5mm vs. .308 Bullet Debate, but with TERMINAL BALLISTICS

Nice shooting, nice animals, agree wholeheartedly, lower recoil all else equal gives me a hedge on best shot placement. Not much a properly loaded 6.5 cannot accomplish when steered thru vitals.

    Krieger vs Bartlein

Well I lied, did not get a 4g Bart, instead, the distributor had a 5R in LP, 6.5 8t, so I will be running a 5R this next build, and it should shoot fine like my first Bart - and others in between. Figured why not go with a Bart if they had on in stock in the config I wanted, not had a bad one yet.

    Muzzle blast in a 20" - 260 vs 6.5x47, anyone?

Cannot suppress for hunting in my state...thanks. Have shot the 260 in 22.6" .....figure the 20 should be louder, and the 47 less due to smaller charge. Making final selection of the two, though a CM has not been ruled out. Thanks guys and anyone else who wants to chime in.

    Muzzle blast in a 20" - 260 vs 6.5x47, anyone?

Has Anyone shot them side by side or owned both in short bbls? Noticeable decrease in the 47...or not?

The great 6.5mm vs. .308 Bullet Debate, but with TERMINAL BALLISTICS

LR101, shooting elk at that distance with anything is a stunt for ego pump. It is unethical. They have been shot dead at 900 yds with a 243, no diff. If I can't get within 600, hell really 400 yds, I need to work on my hunting skills. HUNTING is called HUNTing while Sniping is just that...

The great 6.5mm vs. .308 Bullet Debate, but with TERMINAL BALLISTICS

Ballistics and Statistics are great to calculate and debate. Clinical (i.e. FIELD RESULTS) outcomes show a proper bullet in most common chamberings loaded to common speeds kill similarly, assuming a properly constructed game bullet goes thru vitals.

The great 6.5mm vs. .308 Bullet Debate, but with TERMINAL BALLISTICS

Good bullet thru vitals = death Anymore ?'s The only situation in North America that I would feel inept w/a 6.5mm is a Grizzly at close range charging. I would pop any moose, elk, etc. to 400 yds, deer further. They cannot survive after you take their lungs out.

    7mm-08 for hunting

Thought the ABs were in 140gr? None the less, a 7/08 is good to at least 500-600 yds with shot placement and good bullet, could be effective further. No problem with 95-98% of shots.

    Howa reciever question.

Bubb, pick a Howa/Vanguard or Tikka in 7RM, and shoot it, if you like how it shoots, throw a McMillan on it, and rock on. No reason to spend $$$ if not needed.
